School nurse pay

what is the majority of school nurse pay ? hourly or salary? In my current position I don't get vacation, snow days or holidays paid. Summers off with no pay!

I used to be a substitute school nurse for a school district in southern ca. Pay was roughly $175 per day for 6 hours (only retirement benefits because it was subbing). Not bad but you can make more in other areas if you're concerned with pay. Honestly, it wasn't my thing but if you like working with kids its a good gig.

That is pretty good for sub pay ! Yes the hours and schedule are great , but when your not working on E learning days ( snow days ) holidays or summers , it cuts your pay way down yearly ! I’m trying to just put money back so I don’t have to go back to my PRN job ! Thank you for all of your input !!

If your an hourly paid school nurse, how much is the average pay? I make around 25.00 and hr. /this is my second year as a school nurse , I haven't    received a raise , but we did receive 500$ for covid bonus.I receive 7 sick days a year and 3 personal days. I approached the Administration last Spring about requesting salary, but was basically shut down. I was in contact with staff and the Health dept most of the Summer about Covid, ect. Not sure if I should persue the salary question this year again or not. We have a new administrator now! Any school nurses out there?? Your thoughts....??

I am salaried, and considered fulltime though I work 10 months contracted at 192 days per year. My pay is bi-monthly, and I have an option for pay to be distributed over 10 or 12 months. I choose the 12 month pay so I am paid over the Summer when I am not working. We get 2 personal days and 10 sick days per year. If I had to break my pay down to hourly, I make about $40.00/ hr. I've been a school nurse here for about 16 years.

I'm paid hourly with no pay over any school breaks or holidays. I get 3 days of PTO. Prior to COVID there was an incentive (I think $150) if you missed 0 days of work. My pay is horrible but I'm going to fight for a raise for next year's contract.

I am paid hourly, but it is put into contract form - X number of school days x 7.5 hours a day = yearly pay and then divided up x 12 monthly paychecks. If I would be required to work extra or take of time without pay, they would factor that into each paycheck. I get 9 sick days and 2 personal days a year. I also pay into our state retirement system.

I don't understand that formula... I work  180 days a yr x 8 hrs =7200

then yearly pay?

Sorry, probably not that clear.  X days per year x 7.5 hours per day = total hours per year.   Take that x hourly pay = yearly pay.  Then divide yearly pay by 12 months = monthly pay.

In Texas - I am on Teachers contract (188 days) - salary, benefits, timeoff etc are the same for me as the teachers.  We get 10 days per school year for personal leave time - the days rollover to next school year if not used.  My district spaces out our pay over 12 months - paid monthly.

If nurses choose to work any of our Summer school programs it is extra and usually paid at an hourly wage - I think it was $30/hr in 2019??  We have different programs that run in the Summer so some would be a full school day of 8-3 and some are just half days of 8-11.
