Scheduled to take the NCLEX today but denied because of inappropriate identification???

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

So I couldn't find my wallet with my driver's license in it this morning. So I panicked and grabbed my passport which is yes, government issued, has my picture, name but did not have my signature, unbeknownst to me. When I presented my ID to the NLCEX lady (program coordinator I think she is called) she said this is not signed and therefore not valid. She said I can go home and get another form of ID within 30 minutes. So I went back to my seat and promptly took a black pen and signed my passport, which is something that should have been done a long time ago but alas was not, since I have never had to use it before. So I represented the passport which again, had my name, picture, and now my signature which should therefore make it valid for all intents and purposes. But the lady then said to me, "oh no, because you signed without me witnessing it, I still can't accept it". Thinking that's odd but still going along with what she was saying and trying to appease her, I said "okay, I'll put a strike though my signature and resign it in your presence so you can see." She then said "no, if you do that then your passport will become invalid and you will have to get another one." I sit down for a minute and tried Googling if this was true and found out according to multiple resources that it was not and tried to explain this to her but she was not having it. This was all taking place 15-20 minutes before the scheduled examination time mind you. So I'm basically **** out of luck because in my opinion this lady had a stick up her ass and did not like me for some reason and denied my entrance even though I had proper identification. I lost $200 today and now have to pay another $200, wait for my authorization email again which could take months and then finally reschedule a new test date. I am just beyond livid at my situation that I found myself in today and do not know want to do. I spoke to Pearson, there support line and they gave me case number and will talk to this lady tomorrow to gather more information but it sounds like they will not be able to do anything and the Nclex lady has the ultimate say in who gets to take the test regardless of whether you have proper identification or not. I also spoke to someone from NCSB who seemed much more helpful and told me to write a detailed email to him about what happened which I did and that he would try to resolve this issue for me tomorrow. So my fingers are crossed but I just cannot believe at the events that unfolded. If the verdict in my case does not go in my favor I honestly am thinking about contacting a lawyer.

No, he wasn't, because the passport wasn't signed.

Yes, it was. Just not before I entered the testing center. The time of signature should not be contingent on being accepted as valid ID, as long as it's signed before the scheduled appointment. We're just arguing semantics at this point. They gave me a refund. That is essentially them admitting fault and saying sorry without opening themselves up to a law suit. End of story.

Lawsuit...:sarcastic: :roflmao:

He had id. He was prepared. Comprehend, please.

He was not prepared! Have you taken the NCLEX before? Pearson Vue makes it extremely clear in multiple places that you need to bring a signed ID. This is one way they verify you are who you say you are when you check in to take your exam. Personally, I can't comprehend not being prepared with a signed ID, directions to the testing center, etc. the night before. It's the freakin' NCLEX after all!!

Good Luck On Your Exam!!!

I completely understand how you felt that day. I'm sorry you had to go through that and wish you luck on your NCLEX. Most people that commented forget that things can happen and if they were in that situation they would of felt that same frustration you did.

How was the exam today?!

How was the exam today?!

Shut off at 75 questions. 24 sata's, a couple drag and drop ordering, 1 dosage calc. A couple questions with the additional detail panels like labs and such. I honestly thought it was pretty easy. Way easier than I thought it would be. All of the multiple choice questions I could narrow it down to one or two questions. After most multiple choice questions I knew were 100% right, i'd get a sata immediately after. Same thing with the sata's. If there was one I knew for sure i had it down, boom another sata. but if was a question I wasn't totally sure on it'd bump me back down to a multiple choice. But there definitely a few multiple choice questions that I for sure thought I knew 100% but I'd get another multiple choice afterwards so I'm not sure on the theory of getting a question right and immediately getting a harder alternative type question after. But overall like I said I think it was easier than I expected. At no point did I shake my head and think "wtf to myself, this test is impossible". I thought it was very manageable with mostly generalized questions not specific to any certain disorder or disease process, which is causing me worry because from everything I've read it's that if you thought it was hard, you likely passed but if you thought it was easy, you may have failed. I did the pvt thing a few hours after I got home though and it gave me the good pop up. So we'll see. I find out by tuesday I think. 2 business days.

Hi! I chanced upon your post here and I can totally relate. I was sent away too because I failed to bring my passport with me. I have accepted my unfortunate fate but I am just wondering how the whole process works. I am in a terrible state of devastation right now so I am seeking your opinion as to what I can do retake the exam again. ATT states that i am allowed to take the exam until Aug 8, but knowing I already forfeited my exam, means that everything has to be redone again (the 200 exam fee and 150$ Scheduling Fee for international graduates).

Im not sure anymore what I can do about this?

1. Do I contact NMI BON and apply again and pay their application fee?

2. DO I just pay Pearson vue fees (200 + 150)

I am also wondering how NCSBN refunded your registration fee.

At the moment I cant register for the exam yet as my current status has not been posted I assume. I wish you could help and answer my questions just to clarify my messed up mind. Thank you!

I couldn't reregister until about 12 hours after I"missed" the exam but Pearson told me officially it was 24. Yes, just pay the registration fee. I had to wait for a new ATT to be issued but if you don't and have until august 8th, sounds like you just need to pay the fees and pick a date.

Congratulations!!!

Congratulations! I'm still waiting on my ATT. I'm so tired of doing questionsí ½í¸. Ready to get it done! Virginia's application processing time is horrible. I submitted my application on July 2 & paid Pearson Vue (11 days before I took my last nursing school exam). I called the BON on Friday & they informed that they are still working on June applicationí ½í¸£! Until then, I'll be doing more practice questions. Again, Congratulations RN!
