Long time no "talk"! I don't mean to be difficult, but what is the CPEN? I am guessing that it is a Certification in Emergency Nursing?? Congratulations on completing your BSN! I also completed! Funny how those of us through Excelsior were going to take time off and then just jumped right in! I have applied to Frontier School's program for FNP for this next Spring/Summer. Any more "big" plans in your near future? Good luck on the EXAM!!!

now that i'm done with the bsn, i guess i need something to do.the best way for me to make myself study is to actually have an exam date, so in late august, i'll be taking my cpen. i'm using my enpc book as a well as another guide to study. i'll let you all know how it goes! :)

Hey Bonnie!! :) It's the Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse exam, so it's similar to the Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification, but peds-specific. Congrats on your BSN as well! I just graduated 6/21. Wahoo! We've come a long way from that workshop in Charlotte, eh? I've heard good things about Frontier -- good for you! I'm looking at the Army myself.
Congrats on scheduling your exam. I took and passed the CPEN exam last Monday. I studied for about 3 weeks using Scott DeBoer's CPEN review book, ENA's Pediatric Core Curriculum, ENPC text, and MedEd's online CPEN review. With these resources, I felt extremely prepared for the exam. Good luck and thank you for your dedication to pediatric emergency nursing. :)

I really enjoyed the CPEN review from MedEd. It was presented by Melissa Weir who was an amazing speaker and very knowledgable about pediatric emergency nursing. It covered some topics that are not routinely seen such as volvulus, intussuseption, etc. I think they are having a 4th of July special for 25% off so it might be a lot cheaper. The access is for 1 year and you get 16 contact hours. I am using MedEd's online CEN review now and hope to pass the CEN exam within the next few weeks. Good luck on the CPEN!
