sccc 2012 nursing program hopefuls

Hello . I am starting this thread for anyone who has applied for the fall 2012 start suffolkc.c.c. nursing program. I have applied for the Ammerman day program. I was hoping to find some company on my journey to acceptance day(hopefully:)).

Hi caitcusack! Welcome to the thread. Yes we are required to get a white uniform. No scrub pants!! The pants need to be almost slack like. My husband who graduated from the program in'07 said if you go to the local store to get your uniform (Not sure if we can mention names of stores on here??) they usually know what you need by the program in which you are attending. I myself have not gone yet. Oh and please make sure you have appropriate white or nuetral colored underwear ..NO thongs or prints. LOL, they went over this detail more than once!! "No cleavage in the front or back" Too funny:)

Are our uniforms needed by the first day of clincals? When you say slack pants, what kind of color do they want? That's a great quote LOL. I guess it is good to reenforce the underwear to some girls, for some of us it's common sense though!

I'm gonna have by the first day just to be prepared they didn't tell us if we would be reporting to the clinical site the first week. The whole uniform needs to be white. I am assuming that the pants should be button front. I have seen plain elastic waist pants, but not sure if those are acceptable. I f I find out I will def pass on the info. I wish I could take credit for the quote, It came from a second year male evening student who was quite funny. :)

Hey regirock I have clinicals on Thursdays in West Islip. Classes Mon, Wed, and Fridays. I'm wondering if we already know each other. Did u take all your pre-reqs at Grant? I was in Micro last semester and I know many people were trying to get in for this fall from that class as well as my A&P classes.

Hi. Yes, I took all my pre-reqs at Grant. I took micro the semester before last, though.

Hello everyone , I was reading the thread nd congrats to everyone! I was accepted to day ammerman program. I thought the orientation was not as terrible. It was good to see some familiar faces from prior classes :)

hi luv2bnurse, congrats on getting accepted :) the nursing club has a facebook page ammerman-nursing-club hopefully that link works...otherwise you can go to their homepage ammerman nursing club and there's a link to the fb page on the left hand side

Has anyone ordered books yet??

I have not ordered books yet, but my niece has searched many sites (she is going into the program as well- we R very close in age:) ) She said it looks like ABE books on line is the way to go. Great prices!!!

Jrosa I ordered mine from a few sites lowest price it compared different market sites ( not sure I can list names of sites on here?) should have them tomorrow... I can't wait to get started :)
