  1. Thanks for your responses mae0218 and RN0742. You're all very helpful :-)
  2. Thanks for touching on the job market over there. I guess the job market for a new grad adn isn't good anywhere. I just thought it would be a little better than here. Btw when I visited STL most of the people I encountered were super friendly and it didn't seem like a dangerous place. Thanks again :-)
  3. NevadaFighter, thanks for your input. The crime data map is a good idea. Glad to hear everything worked out for you.
  4. Thanks for taking the time to respond. It's nice to hear somebody elses opinion. By the way, I am on long island so I am quite familiar with snobby and spread out lol.
  5. So I recently graduated with my ASN and passed my boards here in NY. I know I don't want to stay here for various reasons. I have been considering moving to St. Louis for some time now. I visited once and absolutely loved the city and all the things there were to do. It seems like a new grad friendly city (atleast compared to here) and combined with the lower cost of living it seems like a great idea. How do you all find the job market for new grads in St Louis? Also, my one other concern is that I would be relocating there with my family ( husband and 2 young children) I know that the statistics regarding crime aren't pretty, but I also dont believe they paint the whole picture? Do you have concerns regarding safety? What are your thoughts? Any input would be appreciated :-) Thanks
  6. Thanks Luv2bNurse, I will give them a call sometime this week.
  7. Has anyone figured out how to get to the nurse logic section in ATI? I'm really confused about how this ati thing works...
  8. @jrosa, I have rented many of my textbooks in the past and found it very convenient and a nice way to save money. I didn't rent any this semester since a generous family member offered to buy them for me, otherwise I would have rented again. I ended up buying all of mine from amazon for close to $400...still a lot i know but it beats buying them full price from the bookstore :) Anyway, going to campus tomorrow to turn in all my papers, woohoo!
  9. Hey! I'm getting my last round of vaccinations this monday :) I haven't started the reading yet...i actually haven't gotten any of the books yet, but I will be soon. I also just got my CPR done in Smithtown and I just bought the ATI...which really surprised me when I got a box full of books in the mail lol. Still have a lot to do, but I am excited :)
  10. hi luv2bnurse, congrats on getting accepted :) the nursing club has a facebook page ammerman-nursing-club hopefully that link works...otherwise you can go to their homepage ammerman nursing club and there's a link to the fb page on the left hand side
  11. Hi caitcusak, congrats on getting accepted! You didn't miss too much at the orientation, most of it can be found on the nursing home page. They did however pass out some papers with the books we are going to need and some summer reading assignments so you'll want to try and get those. And yes they did take attendance, they sent around a sign in sheet. Perhaps if you can't get in touch with anyone over the phone you could try through the nursing clubs web site, its AmmermanNursingClub.blogspot.com and they also have a link to their facebook page there. Hope that helps you a little, good luck with everything!
  12. Hey jrosa, I went to the evening orientation on the 29th at ammerman. I enjoyed it. It was nice to meet some of the professors and students, but it seemed like most of everything they went over was in the handbook or on the website. I thought it was funny how much time they spent talking about how appropriate underwear should be worn with your uniform lol I guess its not common sense to everyone :) Now I'm trying to figure out how to afford this ATI thing...but overall still excited
  13. Thanks mschultz! I went to the school today and paid my deposit and registered.
  14. Hey everyone, I'm officially off the waitlist! I got my acceptance letter for Ammerman Day today :) Does anyone know if it's possible to pay the deposit online?
  15. Congrats to everyone that got in!
