Welp, I had an email from my sister that our oldest brother passed at 5:40 AM. Glad he is not lingering and suffering any more. My sister said she is going to the Credit Union this AM before it closes. I hope that doesn't mean she is going to try for a loan so she can fly to Michigan. Will know more later, I guess.
So sad to hear of your brother's passing, No Stars, yet I do understand the relief that he is no longer suffering. I have lost my siblings too. It's a weird feeling. Sending hugs and prayers.
Joe, my theory about the traffic is, ppl were heading to the desert or Palm Springs for the weekend. Be safe and warm in the cold weather.
Hello to all! Have a good day!
Hello @No Stars In My Eyes,
I am so sorry about your Brother. God bless you, hon.
Good evening.
Stars, sorry about your loss.
Worked today and was short a nurse and no secretary. Per usual the end of the shift was a mess. One patient we pushed D50 on, another was de-saturating and another needed transfer to a higher level of care.
Now I am not really a superstitious person. But true story. We were short staffed and couldn't staff our census by one patient and one patient had to go to another unit. I jokingly said "or a patient could crash and move to a higher level and that problem would be solved". Seriously 30 minutes later...........
Off tomorrow and back to my normal schedule.
Stars, I'm sorry about your brother's passing.
The wind is picking up outside but it is still 45ish degrees here. Stepdaughter (northern Indiana) sent pictures/video of their snow. Niece and her daughter are in Canton, OH and planning to drive home to central IN tomorrow.
I made a little bit of progress on clearing out our bedroom today. It is my brother's 70th birthday. And the Sooners won their last regular season game, which is a nice birthday gift for him.
Stepson has asked for one of those automatic litter boxes for Christmas. Makes me wonder if Hubs would appreciate having one, too. Although I don't know if it would fit in the laundry room that is the only reasonable place for the litter box.
Thank you Karen. I don't mean to sound....whatever....but we were never close. He was super-smart and super-unsocial, sometimes pretty pompous and quite irritable with us other sibs; who knows why?! He went to Andover Academy and then Indiana U. Then he joined the Air Force. After he had majored in German and Russian, the Air Force sent him to Vietnam ...... and the whole group he went with was sent there by mistake! They were not allowed to even guard the periphery of the camp. He said he was one of the few Americans who were sent to Vietnam on VACATION DURING THE WAR for 3 months! Then he got transferred to Japan, and met an American girl from Wisconsin who was just exactly the same personality type as he was. Both librarians after the service. But the day he called my mom and said he was married, was the day when I said, "Well, if HE can find someone to marry, then maybe there is hope for me!" I can't remember what point he made... maybe Major Something. Anyway he was the head of the Military Police Force when he was on base in Japan. Later in life he managed a wine store. Seldom communicated with us; none of us were very big "phone call" people, so talking on the phone was awkward. After my mother died he did become a bit 'friendlier" and joined in with us sibs on-line occasionally, at the urging of my older sister.
That's it! Can't say I have a favorite memory of him, but he did stick his fingers in my pants when I was 5 years old and I think my father came close to catching him; after that I kept as far away from him as I could, and I didn't really forgive him until 3 years ago.
The End.

Stars sorry to hear that your brother is declining, hopefully the court can help your sister find the will
NJ22 that was nice of your grandson to do that
Tweety that seems like a good idea
Dianah perhaps all the traffic was people returning from Thanksgiving travel
Ado I imagine all that standing and cooking would be tiring
Went to the Arboretum yesterday, stopped at the grocery store, worked on the shopping list for next week, and went for another hike in the afternoon. Wanted to get outside time in before the snow hit. Watched a movie in the evening. Christmas gifts I had ordered have begun to arrive
Today planning to stay in and do laundry and the cooking for the week and watch another movie or two. Was planning to make pancakes but worried I might be trying to do too much. Went ahead anyway and they stuck to the frying pan, which I took as a sign it was too much so decided to stop. Will go out this morning to get coffee before the snow gets too bad. Dad and I decided not to meet given the snow
Expecting 6 to 10 inches by tomorrow morning, and snow has already begun falling. Will be a little cooler today, upper 20s
