Tweety I've heard of people testing positive after symptoms have  gone

NJ22 I imagine you'd be getting a lot of calls about that

Stars depression can be fairly subtle

Dianah it's always nice to return home.  I've been reading Simon Winchester's Krakatoa

Ado emergency guardianship seems like a good idea

Was busier than expected at work, but still got out on time and didn't have to rush.  Have another coworker out next week, hopefully that week won't be bad either

Rest of the evening was quiet.  Ran some errands and listened to music

Have been thinking I might give knitting another go.  Usually when I'm listening to music I spend time on the Internet, but as I've been more mindful I'm realizing that I'm kind of wasting time, distracting myself with stuff that really isn't new or interesting.  Perhaps knitting would be more productive

Noticed sleep has been a bit off the last day or two, not sure why.  Just to be safe, took a Covid test, was negative

Have bird watching this morning and lunch with dad.  Will bake some cornbread and get my 2nd booster

Svengoolie has Curse of Frankenstein, which I think is a decent British  horror movie

Will get into the 90s today

Today is a double-header for the Braves and the Mets. Not sure if they are playing 7 or 9 innings for each game, but will find out shortly as we are in the bottom of the 6th inning. Mets are ahead 5-0.// There will be 9 innings. Mets are still ahead at the end of 7th inning by a disgusting 8-2.

Having the normal Summer weather -- 90's and humid, potential for afternoon thunderstorms. Ho-hum. Right now it is POURING BUCKETS.

Ado, Prayers for you and step-son (and his dad and sister). Hope things work out well for him and all of you.

Joe, If you try knitting again, do you have an idea of any specific item you might knit?

Tweety, Tell your "I don't want to bother/upset you, but..." coworker to keep her texts to herself. She might as well have ended her message with "Nah-nah-nah-nah-boo-boo!" You should send her a text that tells her how happy you were to float, and what a relief it was because it was such GOOD shift. (even if it wasn't).

Hubby is laid back in his recliner, snoring. Nannie is bundled up like it is Winter, and is watching the game through squinted eyes, not just because the "sun sure is bright!" I knew she would stay up as long as *I* was going to stay up last night, but guess who decided I wasn't going to stay up (in the den, at least!) She was so staggeringly tired at that point that she said, "I hope it's not far to the bed." (Maybe 12 steps?)  She is still wearing the same clothes she's had on AND slept in alllllll week. ? Oh well, too bad, so what, who cares.

Guess I'll go pre-heat the oven and throw a couple of pot pies in there. It takes an hour for them to bake.

Later!

It's a nice, warm day today, but I have no oomph. I took some clothes back to the mall to exchange for sis and was drooling over a beautiful handbag at Macys, but I just walked away. I need to get in the habit of sticking to a budget. I took the exchanged clothes to sis. She looks and says she feels a little better each day, but still spends most of her time sleeping. Fingers crossed that her cardio version Tuesday  gives her a more energy. She had blood drawn yesterday, but no calls from MD so I hope no news is good news.

I had a nice run this morning, before it got too hot. I finished up a little sewing project, and that's about it. Dh is out doing errands and went to buy some new underwear. I am guessing he went to the farmers market too. I hope he got something to make for dinner.

Ado, best wishes for your stepson. I can't even imagine how hard that would be.

I heard a someone say on the radio the other day that when says something and then adds "but" then it erases/negates everything that they said before the but. I hope your float shift was better than expected, Tweety.

Cornbread sounds so good, but I don't want to turn on the oven. I wonder if I can talk dh into having cold cereal for dinner, LOL.

As for Tweety's question about how did so many HCP get exposed, I have no idea. I understand maybe someone doing a BP check with out gloves? Or changing linens. But really, universal precautions are still a thing, right? And I know for my state, all HCP wear N95 masks in facilities. It seems like a waste of a scarce resource.

It is 9 PM and there are still 3+ more innings in this second baseball game. The score is THEM: 3, US: 0.

Nannie thinks the "A" on the baseball caps means "Americans" instead of "Atlanta!

She also saw an ad running for a  Lady Gaga concert and asked who on earth is "Lady Gag-ah"  (REALLY??? GAG-AH????)

She was fascinated by the home umpire's zipper, which she said was "sticking out like he's excited." (I think it was his 'protective gear' that was causing the elevation of the front of his pants.) and then she said, "Look! He's wet his pants!"  (And, yes, you could actually see some wetness on the left side of the pants.) Um, Nannie, this is a baseball game, not Media!

She  said, about the catcher, who had a collision with a runner at home base, "They said he has been..." and something about him (the catcher) "sleeping here" (pointing at her bedroom)? We had to tell her he has NEVER been here and he doesn't even know us, we've never met him, period. She said,  "Well...." Like she didn't believe us.

We are still losing , now 4-0. It is time for the "7th Inning Stretch" (just about two minutes of commentators blathering about the game and players.) Don't know why they bother taking a break. Our only hope is if suddenly the Braves come to life (it's happened before) and start scoring like crazy. They have won before, last minute, in the 9th inning. Not too hopeful of them doing so tonight.

Nannie just went to bed. HURRAY! (Maybe the catcher will visit her dreams?)

I was in a patient's room doing care and she was watching Fox News and their resident MD said that it's a sexually transmitted disease with no known deaths and syphilis causes more deaths and we don't worry about that.

He then went on about government overreach and lockdowns during covid.

I think the conservative narrative is going to be that it's sexually transmitted and as Marjorie Taylor Greene stated it doesn't affect most of us and it's a scam.  I.e. homosexuals are getting it so who cares.

When it came up in a small subgroup of our risk management conference one of the men (I think he's a hospital CEO) actually laughed and said he had a 100% chance of not getting it. I was reminded of the story of that being the attitude among Reagan's cabinet about HIV. Some things have not changed very much. ?

Well, the conservative narrative about COVID was only old, fat people die of it, so who cares. Freedom!

And now polio has been diagnosed in NYC, and they suspect hundreds of more cases, based on sewage surveillance.

Good for him. From what I see, my chances of getting it are pretty low as well.  My response is "it shouldn't have to happen to you for it to matter"
