Since we are no longer "hopeful applicants" it makes sense to have new thread for those of us starting classes in August. We can use this as a place to get/share info on the program, express our excitement about finally being bona fide nursing students, or just get to know each other.
A big :ancong!: to everyone who made it in! We all worked so hard to get here. I look forward to meeting all or some of you as we begin what I'm sure will be two very crazy years.
Hi Everyone! As our CPR certification has to be current through May 2013, I have to take the class again. I asked my instructor from last year to set up a session for July 11 in Gainesville. For those of you that still need current certification, you are welcomed to join the group!! Just reply to this message & I'll give you the details. Congrats to all!

Congratulations everyone for being accepted:yeah: My name is Casie and I am very excited to be joining the class in August!! My husband graduated from the program several years ago and he said that the first semester, he was usually out of class by noon. He had already completed his co-requisites, so he was only taking the actual nursing classes. Granted, he graduated about three years ago, so things may have changed since then.
I will be giving notice to my current job next week and that will be bittersweet. It was a very good experience for me and it allowed me to grow as a person, but this is definitely a good decision for me and my family. Now, I am going to need to find a part-time job. Does anyone have any suggestions??
Also, as far as the CPR course on July 11th, will you please provide me with the details? I need to be re-certified. But, I don't think I will be able to be there until 1:00 or later. Hopefully, it is in the afternoon:) Thank you!!
Congrats Casie:yelclap:
If the July 11th class doesn't work out try SFC. They offer some classes that start at 5:45pm. I got certified there and my instructor was awesome. We were only there for 3 hours even though the scheduled class time was 5:45-10:15. Littlebirdie listed the link for me a couple pages back in this thread.
What kind of part-time work are you looking for?
Thank you so much!! I will definitely check that out. Those times will work much better for me, also.
As far as work, I really don't know. For the last four years, I was a high school teacher and volleyball coach. I have my undergrad degree in Social Work and my master's in Ed Leadership. But, I think I am looking for somewhere I can work 2 or 3 days a week, just to bring in some income. We've been preparing on me getting into school, but it will still be an adjustment going from two incomes to one I was thinking of maybe working as a waitress or a gym. But, I am open to any ideas
Hi classmates!!I haven't really been on this site for a few days but now that I am finally back in Gainesville, I am ready to get everything done. I think it is really starting to sink in that we're starting NURSING SCHOOL in 2 months... I am so excited!!!!!!
Now down to business:
Kimberly made a comment about our laptops - I have a mac and my plan was just installing windows on it. I hope that will work for their requirements because this computer is pretty new and there is no way I'd be able to go out and buy a new one.
Tara- Where did you pick up your scrubs? Is there something about uniforms on any of our papers? Also I read the comment you made about preliminary studying... I don't think I am going to study but I may start shopping around for our books. I was thinking about ordering them from Amazon.
*** Cool fact about Amazon- Students can sign up to be Amazon Prime members and receive FREE shipping.... all you need to do is sign up with a school email address (like a one with a .edu). I just found this out a few weeks ago and was so excited about it, so I figured I'd pass it along.
Hope everyone is staying cool in this relentless heat!!
- Emily
Hey... I was told in that in our orientation at the beginning of the semester... that we will be told what scrubs to buy and all the supplies we need.... though, I have no idea when said orientation is...
Orientation is on the first day of school. When you go and turn in all your paperwork, Mrs. Knott will explain a few things to you; as far as what you need to wear (which is just regular clothes), what to expect the first day, and all the good stuff!
And CK- You can accesss your book list by signing into your account and going to your schedule, and then there should be a link you can click on and it give you a LONG list! :)
