Has anyone applied yet???
Hey guys!
I'm new to the forum, but seem to be in the same boat as everyone else on here.... I too received an email inviting me to submit supporting documentation. It is nice to know that I'm not the only only freaking Out with questions lol. I emailed ----- the nursing counselor to try to get some answers. The only answer I really got was that "no not everyone who met the minimum requirements got the email." But she said she didn't know how many did receive the email. So I guess we can concider this as one hurdle cleared and cross our fingers. This will for sure be the longest 38 days ever... Good luck to everyone, I hope we all get to meet in January!
Hi I am new. I want to start doing my prereqs for delta colleges RN program. I'd be starting the spring. how long did it take you and how hard are the classes? How competitive is the program. Like what type of GPA would I need to make the cut? I haven't done any college course work before... :) Thanks . Also what do you do if you don't get? do you take just other types of classes like general ed? and would you advise I go higher than math 82 and risk getting a lower gpa? same with chem 1a lol thanks again!
UkuleleStorys,
It took me 3 semesters to complete all my pre-req's. I already had math completed (math 82), but first semester I took chem 3a (it's easier than 1A), anatomy, and med terminology. I didn't need med term. but it was really helpful with anatomy, the class was easy and it was good to have in case I wanted to do other programs ie: psych tech. Next I took physio (only class for the semester, which is highly advised), then micro the next semester (again, only class for the semester- easier than physio for sure, but this was my last pre-req). As for professors to take, definitely check out www.ratemyprofessor.com to get the lowdown on which teacher to take. I took ---- for anatomy- totally inapproapriate, but really funny and makes the information very interesting. I decided to take ------- for physio. I heard he was the hardest, makes you work the most, but in the end, I think it made me a stronger student. I have never studied for any class as much as I studied for his. He almost killed me, but after going to his office hours every week, and had an amazing study partner, it really helped and I earned the grade I was aiming for. The good thing about him was that he was completely there to help you whenever you needed him. ie 9:00 pm on Saturday night we would email him questions and he would get right back to us. I took --- for micro. She was dry. As for all of the classes though, it VERY much helped that I met someone else in class that we became study partners. Trying to do it on your own would make it much more difficult.
Don't worry about your math GPA. The only grades you have to worry about is anatomy, physio, micro, nutrition and english. Whatever you do, DONT get a C or D in your sciences! If you have to drop, do it before the W date. Delta kills you if you have 2 or more W or F's on your science classes, and if you get an A, B, or C, they won't allow you to retake the class for a better grade, you are stuck with that grade. A's in anatomy and micro is doable, physio is, well, I'll leave that one for you to decide. You also have a great opportunity to gain points on your application by doing well on your TEAS.
Hope this helps!
I'm confused. Some are saying this means we are in and others say different. I'm just gonna wait till I see a "yes" before I celebrate! :/
You made the first round of cuts. Now you have to submit your documents in to make sure what you put on the application was not a lie. Then if all your stuff is proven true, you now get a ranking. This ranking either tells you "you have a seat" or it tells you " you are an alternate (insert number)". At this point let us say you have been given a seat, meaning you are conditionally in. You can still be dropped if you cannot pass the background checks or the urinalysis. If you pass those then welcome to the program and I will see you in the simulation lab
If however you are an alternate, do not freak out. We had alternates come in last minute. We are at 78 seats strong, I asked the instructor why such a weird number and her response was "well were supposed to be 80". Goes to show you some people may have given up at the last minute as alternates and now they are kicking themselves. That is right folks we still got 2 empty slots. So don't give up alternates, fortune may yet smile upon you.

Hey Cosmo,
I turned in printed online copies of the transcripts and I'm sure its fine. I just got a response from the nursing department and they said they don't know how many students they will be accepting to the program. but hey! does anybody know for SURE who received the invitations to submit documents? I'm starting to feel like the previous posting was right and everyone got them. Just my insecurities talking probably. I just wanted to make sure the people who go the letter really did make the "first cut" and out of those who received it, how many would have spots in the program..? Oh, and im going back and forth with the nursing department through email asking them questions so ill keep you all updated with any useful answers i get..
