San Joaquin Delta College Spring 2012

Has anyone applied yet???:confused::eek:

Hey everyone, just got my registration date 11/14. just curious if we all have the same date? I guess our clinical sites are first come first serve.

Mine is 11/23 (the latest possible) because I didn't take any classes there before. I don't care too much about where I do my clinicals as long as it's one of the Stockton locations. I live in Sacramento and I'd rather not have to go to Manteca or Tracy. But I'm guessing some of you live closer to those places and will actually prefer them.

I (and other Fall 2012 applicants I'm sure) would love to see some overall scores with ranking numbers for who got in and who is an alternate if you don't mind posting. It would be much appreciated!!

For those who were accepted I don't think we were given any kind of ranking. My score was around 82 based on what I calculated but I never found out what SJDC calculated it as.

Specializes in ED, Telemetry,Hospice, ICU, Supervisor.
Hi Kalevra:

Do you know any students in the program who want to get rid of the old books since they finished the class? Or is there any "textbooks for sale forum" among delta nursing student? I come across many old book sales in other colleges. Thanks in advance.

I can ask around as to who is gonna sell their books. Ill ask some people tomorrow and see what they are all feeling about selling their books.

I am in the low 60s: 83% (TEAS V) + 3.4(Science)+4.0(Eng. & Nutr)+ BA & Foreign Lang.

I do not have any hospital experience, so am now worried sick about the clinical:( :crying2::crying2::crying2:

Don't worry about clinicals it is gonna be an inevitability and you will be cleaning blood, vomit, poop, urine, wounds, etc etc. Just try not to pass out. We had a few people that almost passed out a few times. Its all part of the learning process.

Thank you HannahmK98 for responding, is the program hard, not sure what to expect. How are the clinicals, exactly, what is the scope of practice? So if you got into the RN program did you bridge with your PT....????? How many PT's are they taking on this semester? And what about alternates will they take them? Where are you doing your clinicals?I've heard actually, some really go things about the PT program so sorry for so many questions just don't want to jump into something I'm really not sure about. Thanks again for your response!!!:D:yeah:

That's okay for the questions! I had no idea what I was getting into either. You are a nurse but specialize in psychiatric. I did not bridge (I wish I could) because I am not yet licensed as a Psych Tech and I wanted to just get in the RN program. I think if you decide to go for a psych tech, you won't be let down, because you will gain so much experience in the medical field - plus you will have 2 licenses! The year is very intense! We have the same amount of units as the RN program but it is crammed to one year. They will take alternates only if someone drops their position - which they do. For the first year, clinicals are just like Nurses.. I mean you go to the hospital and learn basically what the RNs do. Then during summer through the end of the year, you specialize in mental illness... you go to County Mental Health, St. Joseph's Behavioral Health, one day at the jail.... Then you learn alot about Developmental Disabilities. It's alot to take in, but I am so glad that I did this program. Sorry this response came in so late... Oh, class is 5 days a week, clinicals are 3 times a week, lecture thu-fri... it's about 35 hours a week of school!!! It's crazy haha...

Here's the link to know the scope of practice!

Thank you again for responding, you helped alot...can I ask you how many more classes or semesters would it take if you did bridge over from PT/RN? Are many doing that? Do you know how many PT's they'll take this year and next?

How many of you will be taking Eng33A?? Study skills for ADN students

I talked to my friends who are already in the program & they didn't take it or recommend it so I'm not going to take it. We get to register on Monday!! Yaay!! I'm so happy & ready to begin our journey together!! Looking forward to orientation!!:yeah:

Hey, Are we supposed to get some kind of confirmation letter that our background check/urinalysis went through? I have posession charges that were dismissed due to diversion when i was 18 (im 22 now) and it said on the certifiedprofile status report that those charges were found and are "in process". I didnt state this on my nursing application since it wasn't a conviction and the nursing application only asked for convictions. Now i'm kind of worried about this since its been "in process" for 4 business days. All the other status reports on the background check are complete and my unrinalysis came back clean. Can anybody shed light on this?..

Hey everybody, I'm new to this thread but I was accepted into the program and couldn't be more excited. I had a few questions. I tried to clck on the payment code for the ATI materials but it didn't work so I'm not sure what were supposed to purchase. Also, there wasn't a student handbook available in the docushare. Did anybody else have these problems? I live in Sacramento and am glad to hear many of you are as well. We need to set up a carpool! I can't wait to mee you all on the 29th
