Has anyone applied yet???
:rolleyes:Has anyone applied to the PT (Psychiatric Technician) program @ Delta for spring 2012? By chance any of you that applied for the RN program did you also apply for the PT program?
Hi islandmomma! I am currently in the PT program.. last year when I applied, I applied for EVERYTHING and got in the PT program! I applied for Rn program and I got in for next semester. So if you get in the PT program and not in the Rn - don't worry! The PT program is awesome! It's different from nursing but there are promised jobs... Good luck!

Thank you HannahmK98 for responding, is the program hard, not sure what to expect. How are the clinicals, exactly, what is the scope of practice? So if you got into the RN program did you bridge with your PT....????? How many PT's are they taking on this semester? And what about alternates will they take them? Where are you doing your clinicals?I've heard actually, some really go things about the PT program so sorry for so many questions just don't want to jump into something I'm really not sure about. Thanks again for your response!!!:yeah:
Ahh! im kind of stressing about the costs and stuff. I couldnt wait to get the letter now i just wish i had some more time to prepare for all this. lol! just kidding i cant wait. However, I need to know this... Are we able to use the bog fee waiver to pay for our registration costs for the classes?? i'm not referring to the costs like mal practice insurance, background checks, or books. But do the enrollment fees get waived like other classes i've been taking??
Tuition is the same as any other class at delta, so your BOG waiver covers it. There are other costs that will hit your bank account.
Uniforms have to be ordered from a specific company the school contracts with. About $90 for a top and bottom set. Yes they are the all white stiff feeling ones.
Stethoscope varies, I know people that bought the Littman Cardiology III that can run around $140 and higher. Its up to you as long as it has a bell and diaphragm. You can buy the classics or if your strapped for cash get some $20 stethoscopes. As long as you can work with it is all that really matters.
Pharma books are about $100 a piece for a total $200.
Books can run $300-600 roughly. The fundamentals book and med surge books come in a set, a really expensive set. I sell my stuff to people that are coming in this spring. Getting used books are obviously cheaper than brand new that's why the range can fluctuate.
The ati books on the other hand you can't get a discount on. Since you are buying an access key set for online tests, quizzes and other resources. Cant remember the cost maybe a few hundred bucks.
Doctor Visit is up to your insurance.
Lab visits if needed depends on your insurance.
Shots depends on insurance.
Skills kit, I wanna say $110-150.
I forget what other random things pop up but remember it will pay off in the long run. Think 5 years from now. I know people that pulled out loans so they do not have to work for the next 2 years. Keep in mind most of them do not have kids.
Hope this helped.
Make sure you do your background check and urinalysis ASAP. You are only conditionally in. If you fail to meet these two tests such as you are murderer or have meth in your system, well I really don't think you will be in class in the spring.
If you are an alternate reading this post you better hope that someone does not pass the checks, chooses to go to another school, boyfriend/husband/girlfriend/wife makes a life changing decision that will not allow the student to continue the RN program at delta, or karma intervenes on your behalf. You will be surprised how many things can work out that allows an alternate to get in.
Thanks again kalvera, where else can I expect to pull out loans from if I don't qualify for financial aid?? I just renewed mine yesterday online but I don't Know if I even will get any because I have a BS already. :/
You should qualify for this http://www.oshpd.ca.gov/HPEF/Text_pdf_files/2011ADN_FILL.pdf
So long as you are in an ADN program you should be qualified for this grant. The money is for $10,000 which you do not have to pay back. Some of my friends got this and they are using it to pay for random stuff.
There is a catch however. You have to work in a medically undeserved area for 2 years, but you do not have to pay it back. Medically underserved by their definition does not mean out in the boonies or in the ghetto only. County hospitals, VA hospitals, and I think prison hospitals also count as medically underserved.
They should be putting up a new one at the start of the new year. So don't worry about the postmark being September 2011.
