Hello Everyone! Just starting a thread for San Joaquin Delta College RN program. Hope to hear from everyone applying! Does anyone know when the application period is going to be for fall 2023?

Congrats to everyone who got in. If any students have Qs feel free to personally message me. Fastrack students, I encourage you to message Anna1234. I will be the tutor for ADN1 and I'm excited to meet you all!

Thanks, Ramon! By any chance, do you know about the H S 95 class? Is it difficult and does it test us? I see in the portal that the first week we attend four hours everyday, and internet lecture overlaps a little with ADN1. Although it is a helpful class, I'm worried it'll cause unnecessary stress. Or maybe I'm just paranoid ? Any insight?

No you take one class at a time. NURSADN1 is the first half of the semester and then NURSADN2 is the second half. The schedules for NUSADN1 and NURSADN2 are the same. The only difference is that NURSADN2 doesnt have any on-campus clinicals.

Thanks for the clarification! By any chance, have you or someone you know taken H S 95 prior to adn1? Is it difficult? Do they test you on anything? Just worried because it does overlap with ADN 1 a little bit, and the first week is a lot.

It doesnt overlap with HS 95, that was something I was confused about but HS 95 in-person classes start 1 week before ADN1. Im not sure about the difficulty but I know its just an additional stress to add on yourself. I think they do weekly discussions and its not really worth it bc during adn1 and adn2, you're taught everything you need to know.

No yeah, it does start before ADN 1, but the online dates (8/07-10/13) do overlap with ADN 1. I assume those might be the weekly discussions and other stuff. It's just a class that teaches studying tips, time management, etc.. Things that could "help" students when they take the classes. I wish I could ask other students about it too. I'll be sure to ask around orientation, I think I'll still have time to consider it. Thank you so much

Thank you Ramon for all the insight. How do we sign up for tutoring ? Also it's has been a couple years for me personally since I took A and P should I refresh before starting in August. I also picked Dameron. I have no medical experience and transitioning from trucking to nursing. Hence little nervous ?

Hi. If anyone knows any current/graduated nursing students that have taken h s 95, do you mind sharing their experience/thoughts/advice if they are okay with it? Thinking about taking this class is giving me major anxiety than hope ?

Does anyone know the cost of the program? Or will that be covered orientation day?

I enrolled but then dropped it.  Glad I did because ADN1 was overwhelming at first.  So. much reading.

The one good thing about HS95 is that it taught me more about APA format.  Fortunately, I got that information before I dropped the class. However, there are YouTube videos about APA format, which helped me when I needed more information or didn't quite understand something.

Good Luck everyone and congratulations! I graduated in May and passed NCLEX and I can honestly say it was the best decision I ever made!

Thank goodness, I dropped the class. Though it's been a while since I did APA format, I think I'll navigate well with resources to get around ?

Also, congrats! It's exciting to hear how pleasant students' experience are ? Excuse me for the bombardment of questions, but how was your experience throughout the program? Any testing advice for certain classes or studying tips that you can share that'll make us successful? Helpful resources (yt videos, books, etc.) that you would recommend? For NCLEX as well? And what helped you get through it all?

Sorry if it sounds like a lot ? I'm both anxious and excited to start, but the reassurance and advice is much needed. No rush, of course! Again, congratulations, and good luck in your future endeavors! ???

My experience was pretty great actually.  It has its moments of course, but every nursing program does.  For the most part the teachers are really supportive and helpful.  My favorite Professors are (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) and (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) because they were able to show support and teach without creating additional anxiety.  Nursing school is stressful and who needs more stress on top of that!

Resources that helped me the most: Simple Nursing - I bought the subscription - it's well worth it.  Nurse in the Making was helpful for ADN1 because it simplifies SO MUCH information that it gives you a framework to start from.

My advice is to not try to take notes like you did for pre-reqs. You'll be re-writing the whole textbook if you do that.  Focus on the Outline of the Book - I would do this by turning the Objectives of the Chapter into Questions - then make a game of trying to answer the questions.  I would also make "Play Lists" on YouTube for certain topics - like Head to Toe Assessment for example and literally watch them or listen to them on repeat any free chance I could get.

Also - for NCLEX - use Archer - they will likely give you UWorld during your last semester - but Archer was the most helpful for me to pass the NCLEX!

Thanks so much and good luck to all of you! ?. If no one else told you today, you're all going to be great nurses!

Thank you so much! It's an honor to be accepted. I'm hoping we can all join the rest of you one day. ?

Reeeeally quick, how much would you study per day? Or how much would you recommend? I feel like the answer varies because everyone studies differently, and, of course, overstudying may/may not be a detriment, but for each student there is some sort of average that works out for them. I'd hope that 3-5 hours isn't overkill. I'm afraid of overstudying because my brain will be mush after 8+ hours of "being productive", and also the issue of losing sleep leading to poor function ? Still, it'd be nice to know. Again, no rush!
