Hello Everyone! Just starting a thread for San Joaquin Delta College RN program. Hope to hear from everyone applying! Does anyone know when the application period is going to be for fall 2023?

Thank you so much! It's an honor to be accepted. I'm hoping we can all join the rest of you one day. ?

Reeeeally quick, how much would you study per day? Or how much would you recommend? I feel like the answer varies because everyone studies differently, and, of course, overstudying may/may not be a detriment, but for each student there is some sort of average that works out for them. I'd hope that 3-5 hours isn't overkill. I'm afraid of overstudying because my brain will be mush after 8+ hours of "being productive", and also the issue of losing sleep leading to poor function ? Still, it'd be nice to know. Again, no rush!

It's difficult to count the hours because frankly there are not enough free hours. Just know that you'll likely be falling asleep to YouTube videos of simple nursing as you have your laptop in front of you while you're trying to read the last few chapters before the next exam.

It's not like prereqs.  It's a different type of studying for sure.

So basically every second of your free time is taken. What is a better question is how much time per week did you make time for self-care.

Now that I can answer, some weeks just 1-3 hours, then other weeks I could take an entire day off from studying.

My advice to you is do not procrastinate, knock out the papers as quickly as possible, and understand that care plans will take longer than you think at first but by the end you'll be knocking those out quickly.

Taylors book on nursing diagnosis is a good one to order. Mine recently sold, but I'll include the Amazon Link for you.

I guess I should've expected that answer ? That is what we signed up for! But thank you for the advice!

Besides making questions out of the outline of the book, what other studying tips would you recommend? Rewriting notes? Active recall? Teaching a study buddy or my dog what we learned? ? At least for funds and medsurg? Anything helps! I'm just so anxious to get into funds... care plans... goodness.

Not sure how lectures are planned out, but I'm assuming PowerPoints are sent out in advance? Maybe? Or not. My plan of action was to make notes out of the PP before lecture, add in more info/clarification during, then take notes from the book that expand upon the objectives/outlines of lecture and from the book itself (if that makes sense >_>), THEN make questions, just to keep it all connected, but this might change when put it into practice. I'm definitely rambling, oops—

(I hope you don't mind me pm'ing you when I reach 15 posts...! I feel like it'd be more convenient to ask questions there ? but if not that's OK)

Definitely join forces with a couple trustworthy friends. The week before the test (or day before) start quizzing each other to see what you know and what you need to work on.

It's always nice when Powerpoints are given ahead of time but some professors will wait until the morning of lecture to upload them.

I liked to download the txt format then copy it and paste into a word document. This way I could add notes during lecture (use a different color so you know what you wrote).

You'll find ways that work for you. This is what worked for me.  Hope it helps ?

Hello, can anyone who was in the ADN program please answer this question, how often did you refer back to your anatomy and physiology notes? I want to get rid of my notes because they take up so much space, but I'm scared I may still need them.

pretty much never but I still kept mine just in case.  I hate to toss all the hard work, but I'm sure it will just take up space in my house too.

I think maybe the sodium potassium pump was one thing I checked out but honestly A&P was the foundational knowledge you needed to understand the rest you're about to learn.

Thank you for your response. I agree, so much hard work went into those notes.

Hi all!

I'm applying to Delta Spring 24 and I wanted to clarify the requirements needed in the final documentation packet.

I am a transfer student who has requested for official transcripts to be sent electronically. I have submitted physical course descriptions in the packet for all prerequisites completed outside SJDC, but I did not submit sealed official transcripts in the packet. Did anyone submit their packet as I did? I am worried I will get disqualified for not including physical transcripts in the packet.

Hi all!

I am applying for Fall 2024 and I had a question. I know they ask to list all attempts at each course. I took BIOL 22: Intro to Medical Microbiology and BIOL 23 General Microbiology. Would I have to list both courses or does this not count as repeat? Do I only need to list one of my Microbiology courses?

**I took Gen Micro and received a C, so I took Intro to Med Micro and got an A.

Yes, there is a SJDC ADN program option on the TEAS website. Select that option and send your report to it.

I have a question regarding our transcripts( both TEAS and our college transcripts). Should we send it to Delta Admissions, or do we need to send it to [email protected]?

I was accepted to the program in a previous cohort so things may have changed. What I did was send the TEAS report using their dropdown box and selecting SJDC ADN. The college transcripts are sent to [email protected].

Did you send only one TEAS report or you send all the attempts ?

If you send your latest TEAS report, it will include all your attempts.
