San Jacinto College ADN Fall 2009

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everyone. Im wondering if any of you are planning on applying to San Jac ADN program or are in the program?

Lets talk about it here

Yeah, but you want to control infection more than you want people to not slide around on the bed. That's what Dr. **** was saying. Not that it was wrong to miter the corners, but that it's lower on the list of what you should do. One of those 2 right answers, but one is more important than the other.

*Edit*

Also, has anyone started reading chapter 29, 45, 10, or 11? I've started 29 and it's about vitals. I like how the book assumes we don't know what conduction or convection is and goes into excruciating detail about what they are.

What's the point of A&P if they're going to go over this again? Or is this something the lectures skip over? Not worried, just curious as to why our intelligence is being questioned in this book : )

I've spend 2 hrs reading ch 29 and I'm still not ready for the pre-test. I can't believe the # of chs for the 2nd exam. And it doesn't look like they're going to lecture over 29 and 45 based on the calendar.

Oops so they're going to lecture over 29 but not 45? Jillian was asking me yesterday about that and she was wondering if they meant to put ch 46 since they plan to lecture of 46 the following week.

Is it a self-study chapter? I don't have the syllabus handy to look at it.

Chapter 29 isn't too bad. I'm taking the pre-test right now and it has some quirky questions (I think this is a theme we should get used to), but it makes more sense than 31 or 33 did.

Well I emailed Dr. **** since it doesn't make sense for us to test for only 1 self-study ch.

Yeah, that would be very odd. Could be a typo like you said.

Wish I could e-mail. Can't send, can't receive. Argh.

esmereyna,

what do you mean just one item its referencing to in the study guide? i'm lost.

Sorry I just got on... Well Fly dayton explained it just right... My article was about chapter 45, but it included many subjects that were in many items for example item 1 and 5.... But I just ended up referencing it to one item... Also I wanted to add that I am not good with papers because of punctuations and such, so I go to the writing lab... I went today and they helped me out with my apa style. It was mostly minor mistakes, but I was very grateful... Just wanted to add that tid bit

Awesome. A good paper is a happy paper!

To get back to my hatred of MNL, ch. 29 is funny. If I see one more pick all the right ones, but if you don't pick all the right ones, or even just wrong one, you get no credit, questions again, I'm going to go crazy. I think I counted 4 in this (but that's because there's 42 questions).

Here's hoping we don't have to use this travesty of a program next semester.

Guess what? The NCLex is full of picking the "right ones." One of the nursing students warned me of this when preparing for the NCLEX.

I'm talking about the whole not getting points for anything if you pick 1 wrong one. Obviously the NCLEX is like that, the instructors have been beating us over the head with that : D

Well that's the whole point of exposing us to that type of questioning now. Now you know why the NCLEX pass rate is so how at San Jac.

And MNL ch 29 is a killer for those of us who have no prior hospital experience.

Yeah. I still hate it though : p

It was a killer for those who DO have hospital experience. Scored a 78 or so on my pre-test. Though, like I said before, the questions were better in my opinion.
