San Jacinto College ADN Fall 2009

Published

Hi everyone. Im wondering if any of you are planning on applying to San Jac ADN program or are in the program?

Lets talk about it here

Has anyone who handed their paperwork in registered yet or does that happen after orientation? I cannot hand my papers in until after my CPR on August 2nd and that seems so far away...it said that our names won't be released until all our papers are in so I wonder if I can hand everything in on orientation and just tell them that my CPR is that Sunday. So confused.

The Foundations book is going to cover the majority of our classes (if not all of them). If you type in all of the classes we're taking this fall, that book, and the dictionary/terminology book shows up for all of them. We'll also need the nurses board book, which I believe can only be bought at the bookstore.

I'm only getting mine now because there's 120 other students who need that book too. I want to get a deal : D

And you can hand in your papers now Pharm. The only thing they'll say is, bring in your CPR card copied front and back and then you can register. They'll be telling us what classes to register for I believe. Kind of moot until orientation anyway.

Don't freak out on me guys. This is supposed to be the easy part. Just take a deep breath and don't worry, everything will end up fine : )

The books seem cheaper just @ the school bookstore.. I don't find them any cheaper anywhere else.. although i haven't really looked anywhere else that much..just amazon ha ha.

Any ideas? or should i just order from the school bookstore?

Wow! that's the first time I've pulled up our courses on the online bookstore site. THAT'S ALOT OF BOOKS we're going to be using. I counted 12 total for all 4 courses. Does that sound right to the rest of you who have also looked, or did I enter something in wrong. I didn't know if the section number mattered (it didn't seem to), so I just entered 101.

At first glance it appears like a lot, but like I said earlier, it's the same two books (unless they've changed what I saw a week ago).

It's the Fundamentals book, and the Terminology/Dictionary book. Then we have to buy the nurses board book. So total, there's only 3 we have to buy. Now our second semester. . .

*Edit* Okay, so I got all paranoid and went and checked, and what do you know, there's more books. But it's funny, they decided to include the Pharmacology stuff. I don't know about you guys, but I'm not taking Pharmacology right now.

You're still better off getting the books I mentioned, but to wait and see on those other ones. Doesn't make sense to buy a book and not use it until your second semester. Money doesn't grow on trees...technically : p

Okay, so obviously we should just wait till orientation to buy books..

I kind of wanted to buy them all at the same time... Are any of you ordering

the pharmacology books??

I may just wait and see what the instructors say..

I'm only going to order the Fundamentals of Nursing book, as I already have a medical dictionary and the internet for my terminology. Doesn't hurt that I also took a medical terminology class before : )

I think it's smart to wait until orientation to buy any books though. It won't hurt to buy any of the ones that are listed though, we'll eventually use them undoubtedly.

most of the books you buy during your first semester is used through the next few semesters after that, so thats a good thing

That is a good thing. Thanks.

That is a good thing. The only thing I'm looking at is, am I going to be using it right now? If not, I'm not going to waste my money now. I'm already gonna' be out 300 dollars before I even set foot in the classroom. I'm not going to drop even more on books that I won't be using now.

I'm very very cheap. But a logical kind of cheap : )

I was looking up our books on Amazon and was stumped by "Elsevier Iclicker" But looks like its an I>clicker. That sounds awesome if we are going to use those. Does anyone know?

That's a good question. Maybe one of the peeps in the program will drop by to answer that.
