Hi everyone. Im wondering if any of you are planning on applying to San Jac ADN program or are in the program?
Lets talk about it here
I was wondering though (Flydayton)....you said you were planning on about $280 before tax, but I came up with a total much bigger than that. Can anybody tell me if they understand the supplies differently:
1- Clinical Set $121.80
1- Transition Lab Supply $133.45
1-Lab supply kit w/Littman Lightweight II $198.00
2- School uniform sets $50.00
1- Liability Insurance $7.00
Total before tax = $ 510.25
The two things I noticed you didn't list was the insurance, and then the lab supply. Do we not have to get both the lab supply and the kit? That would be cool, but I just thought they were 2 different things we needed to get. Anyway, maybe some of you who are already in the program can clear this up or I could quit being lazy and just call and ask. LOL!
I'm not going to get the Littman scope and subsequent stuff that comes with it because I already have a stethoscope. I bought mine from the bookstore, and it works just fine. No need to overpay for a supposed "better" scope. Just me though!
Also, consider we're going to be doing 2 clinicals a week. We're getting two pairs of scrubs in that clinical pack. I'm going to venture a guess and say that won't be a problem.
As I said earlier, the scrubs portion of our nursing adventure should be the absolute last things we're worried about : D
Not a dumb question. As I was saying a few weeks ago, I think when you're going through a very exciting adventure, and we know that we have to follow everything to a "T" when dealing with the nursing program, I think we just kind of hit overload and our mind goes on auto-pilot. Things that should be so simple for us to understand, get mixed with all the details we have to know and suddenly becomes confusing. Once we start the program, we'll probably all look back and laugh at the way we're acting right now. From an arial view, we probably all look like a bunch of aunts who just had their line interrupted (mixed, confused and wondering around like we don't know our head from our butts. LOL). We all need to BREATHE huh?
Anyway, 4 sets of scrubs total is how I understand it too, as long as you are just purchasing the minimum requirements. With the clinical uniform, I believe we will be wearing the scrubs beneah our labcoat.
Has anyone signed up, planning on it, or already been in that faternity Delta Rho Kappa? They said that there will be officers at the orientation to assist in the day's activities and to answer questions. I just wondered if any of you knew anything about it. Is it really helpful to students tackling the nursing program or is it more for social interaction?
ha ha. Wow, i didn't know anything about a fraternity? that seems interesting but may be hectic trying to deal with that AND the nursing program. I'm not too sure. Are you going to sign up?
Also, there are more books listed for what we need than just the Fundamentals for Nursing and the Medical Terminology bundles..
So i don't understand why some of the people on here are JUST ordering those and not the other ones??
Yea, that's why I was wondering if some of the students already in the program had any input about the faternity. If it's academically beneficial, than it may be worth it, but if purely for socializing...I definitely don't have time for that.
By the way, where is everyone getting the book info from? Did y'all ask someone at the office, talk to current students, etc.? Thanks.
You go to the san jac bookstore website and type in what course it is (RSNG) and the course number..like the first one..and whatever section number..and it tells you wha textbooks you need.
But i don't know if i should order the fund. for nursing and medical terminology ones yet or if i should just wait.. some people are talking about it on here how they have already ordered those.
But what about the other ones?? ha.

I was going to buy just the minimum as well, which would be 1 clinical set, and then 2 sets of school scrubs. With a family of 5, I almost have to do laundry daily anyways. For those that don't do laundry that often, I doubt you'd sweat up your school scrubs that much sitting in a classroom for 3-4 hrs, so if you had to rewear one I wouldn't think it would be a big deal. Now, if we end up working hands on (which I have no idea if we will or not) like we did in some of our A&P/micro classes, then that would be a different story. And definitely like someone was saying earlier, I would never rewear scrubs that have been worn in a clinical setting. EWWWWWWW!
