San Jacinto College ADN Fall 2009

Published

Hi everyone. Im wondering if any of you are planning on applying to San Jac ADN program or are in the program?

Lets talk about it here

Okay.. i don't know if you guys are ignoring my question or if it's not showing up ...lol.... i'm feeling lost about a few things i'm new at this i don't even know if y'all are new at it or not..

i don't know if we register for classes right now or what..

or why we can't take a PE this fall..

You can register for classes, just not nursing classes. So if you're thinking of taking a PE class, you'll be able to register as long as no holds are on your record (you can find out by going into your SOS).

I don't know why you wouldn't be able to take a PE this fall though. It should only be a time constraint and not the nursing office stopping you.

thanks....

do u know where we can buy cheaper txtbooks?

I would say either Amazon.com or using the bookstore across the street from the college.

i wouldnt register for any other classes now. theyll schedule ur nursing classes, so youll have to schdeule other classes around them. register when u know ur nursing schedule

ok htx. thank you so much! :)

what should we wear to orientation??

shaynalynn22 i still don't know on what i am going to wear, but as long as you look appropriate there shouldn't be a problem :)

So now I need to find out why I have a hold on my account. I was trying to register for a PE class on the weekend since I know we don't have any classes on the weekend right? I shopped around online for cheaper textbooks but couldn't find more than a $5 difference and then I realized that these books are pretty important so I might as well shell out the full price.

Russell, I think I paid $20 for my flash cards, but yours might be a more thorough set.

So, once we graduate in 2011 for our associates degree,

are our options either to go to school for longer to get a bachelor's degree

or to find a job somewhere?

What are you guys doing?

I'm job hunting my last semester (don't wait till you've graduated, start early). Even though we're told that the job market is pretty solid, there are a lot of stories running around about how it's tough for new grads to find jobs. Even on this site, if you look at some of the different topics, a lot are talking about how they can't find jobs 5-6 months after they've graduated.

If you want a bachelors so bad, wait until you have a job at a hospital where they'll pay for you to go get it. I think that makes more sense than paying for one yourself : )

If I decide to get my bachelors, I'm joining the Air Force and letting the government pay for it. That's just me though.

Wow, five to six months? That's a long time. Hopefully by the time we graduate, it will be easier then. Probably not, though. ha ha. I really hope we all get lucky..Because we'll all need jobs definitely!!

There's so many places you can apply at though. so i don't understand why they wouldn't be accepting incoming nurses?

I've heard that some hospitals will pay for you to go back and earn your BS.

Always a big plus if you're thinking about doing that : )

Melissa, I meant to tell you earlier that I found the Foundations of Nursing book (the whole bundle actually) for 120-ish on Amazon. Took some searching on my part, but that was the best deal I saw.

This obviously goes to the rest of you as well. I'm not trying to hide it for myself or anything : D It's a really good deal though.
