San Jacinto College ADN Fall 2009

Published

Hi everyone. Im wondering if any of you are planning on applying to San Jac ADN program or are in the program?

Lets talk about it here

Specializes in Oncall Hospice RN.

Thank you Zippidy!!!! You made my day:cheers:

Hey do any of you know how the schedule is suppose to be set up. As in, how many weeks are in a semester, and how many courses? Also, I was thinking I heard that the nursing program does not take breaks like the college does, do any of you know if this is true. Will we have Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break holidays, or will we work straight through? Just curious. I've been trying to figure out my childcare, and also have a list of off days in case I have to schedule dr. appts and stuff.

They have regular 16 week courses and 8 week courses. The 1st semester is 4 Courses.

1 is a full semester course and the other 3 are 8 wk courses.

The schedule seems to be M-F 8-12 Not including clinicals.

I am not sure about the holiday thing, but I know last year, a husband of one of the students said his wife was going to school through the Winter Break, but it was because of Ike.

Thanks for all that info. Wow...where in the world did I hear that we would be going full time M-F 7:30-4:30pm? I know LVN program is set up on that schedule, maybe I just assumed that the RN program would be the same.

Thanks again Zippidy.

Well our first semester is 4 courses. I know at least one of the classes is only 8 weeks, but another one is the full 16 weeks. I'm not sure which is which though.

We will get breaks. It'll go fall, spring, summer, fall, spring. So if all goes according to plan (and it will!) we'll all graduate in May of 2011.

Y'ALL ARE SO HELPFUL! Thanks again.

I just looked at the catalog, there are some classes that can be taken in the afternoon. So I hope I am right. I think there is practice time. I guess we really won't know until orientation.

So I wonder, will they design our schedule, or will we? I hope that doesn't sound like a crazy question. I just know that some people will be taking other courses that some may have already taken, like PE, Psycology, etc. So I was just wondering if they tell us what courses are mandatory and then we look to see what time those classes are being offered (like normal registration), and then pick one? Just thinking out loud this morning I guess... I'm glad you guys are here to help this old lady out...LOL!!

they schedule your nursing courses for you. you have no control over it. they will post up the schedule and you register for the class you are put in

hmmmm? Alrighty then, guess I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks.

Hey there...

I recently graduated from San Jac (Class of May 09) and I'd be happy to answer any of your questions.

I've often told my fellow classmates that I wish we could impart some wisdom and tips to the incoming class to make their life a little easier.

On a side note.. I took NCLEX today and I believe based on the "Pearson trick" that I'm unofficially an RN now!

That is so nice of you. I'm sure we would all appreciate that. Could you share with me how a typical semester is scheduled? As I was telling the others, I'm trying to get childcare and stuff all worked out, and it would be so helpful to me if I knew what the typical school hours are, and also do we get any days off (i.e. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Labor day, etc.) or do we work straight through everything?

Also, what is the "pearson trick"?
