San Francisco State University (SFSU) Spring 2025 BSN Program

Published

Hello everyone, I wanted to make a forum for us applying to SFSU's Spring 2025 cohort for the BSN program to hopefully discuss the application and maybe some other questions we have. It might be helpful for us and future applicants as well!

Hi Guys! I wanted to introduce myself, provide information, and ask questions.

My stats are:

3.9 overall GPA, 3.89 Cumulative GPA, 85.3% TEAS, CNA school, and 130+ hours of volunteer service at Kaiser Permanente, and I am a current student at SFSU.

So far, I have been waitlisted at CSUEB and given scholarship acceptance at the Dominican University of California.

This morning, I asked the nursing department when they would release decisions, and they told me they would send decisions sometime this week.

Furthermore, I wanted to congratulate those who were accepted at SFSU and CSUEB!

My question to those who were accepted is, are you current SFSU students or transfers?

Nice to meet you all, and good luck to those who are waiting to hear back from nursing schools!

I was accepted at SFSU as a local transfer student and waitlisted at CSUEB.

My stats were: 3.97 overall GPA, 3.87 science GPA, 90.7 TEA, near 5000 hours as an EMT.

I haven't received the 2nd letter of acceptance from admissions yet.

I am also still waiting! I called the Nursing Department this morning and they said that they didn't release all of the decisions yet and they should be in by the end of this week.

My stats:

4.0 Overall GPA, 4.0 Prereq GPA, 94.7 TEAS, 200+ hours of volunteering at my local hospital and the Veterans' Affairs Hospital, as well as designated caregiver for one of my family members.

Current SFSU student, waitlisted then accepted at CSUEB.

My GPA 4.0,

TEAS 97.3%,

more than 1500 hours working experience as a Medical Assistant at Kaiser.

I get accepted to Cal East Bay, and I am accepted the admission offer. But still want to wait for SFSU.

Hi, I got accepted at sfsu as a transfer student.

4.0 GPA, 96.7% TEAS, 1000+ CNA experience, bilingual certificate, local transfer student.

Honestly, I think a lot of people had the grades to get in, but what really got me accepted probably was my immigration background and personal statement. I knew that being a first-generation immigrant makes my background a bit different from most applicants since I moved to the U.S alone, so I focused on my own journey. Also, my transcripts tell a story too, from starting from ESL classes to working my way up to the science classes. I also mentioned my experience as a CNA many times in my personal statement.

I believed personal statement was a chance to introduce myself and show the schools who I am, and I made sure to keep it real, show my emotions (show, don't tell), highlight what makes me unique. And my friend too, she has Bs in 2 science classes, 94% on TEAS,  90 hrs volunteer experience in psychologically related clinics, she's immigration background same as me, first generation started with ESL classes, she got in most CSUs she applied.

I hope this will help, good luck everyone!

Hi, I have the same GPA and background as you. I didn't submit my bilingual certificate because I hadn't done it by the time I submitted my application. So I believe I lost some points from that.

I agree, unfortunately, you might lost points there, but final decision still hasn't come out yet, anything is possible!

By any chance, has anyone gotten waitlisted? If so, did they provide a number for you?

Hi! You were waitlisted at CSUEB but then you were offered a spot there?! Congratulations!

Hi! Yes, I was waitlisted and I wasn't given a number in terms of rank. I did get a separate acceptance email when I got off the waitlist.

Hey guys,

Haven't received an email yet but I think I was denied. My major on the portal changed from Nursing to my alternate Bio-Physio.
