Hey All
I haven't yet seen a forum for this cohort yet and I wanted to start one! Applications are due soon and wanted to see how others are going along with the process and see if theres any advice or recommendations that anyone has. This could be with the application, interviews, pre-reqs, HESI, etc. I appreciate those who comment and add to the forum!
A little about me: originally from NYC moved out to Oakland in 2015. I worked in Urgent Care, and have volunteer work during Covid-19. Finishing up a few pre-reqs now and hopefully will have them done in time for the application due date Dec 1st. Let me know if there are any other questions for me, I am very interested to see the backgrounds of others who are also applying, its a stressful but exciting time for everyone! ?
P.S. if there is a forum for the Fall 2021 ELMSN program please link it!

I’m in the middle of filling out FAFSA, and I emailed someone in Financial Aid earlier this week with questions about if SMU would like to see certain specifics on the FAFSA app. Haven’t gotten a response yet, so... not feeling super supported in the financial aid aspect and I sense they kind of leave the graduate students to fend for ourselves. Maybe they just wait until they receive our FAFSA and then reach out to us? Who knooows.
I’m feeling exactly the same! I knew a couple of people who finished the program and they mentioned that their tuitions were funded primarily through loans. I emailed financial aid about a week ago and haven’t heard back from them as well ?

Congratulations on getting in @chellachelle! you say that so casually haha What other languages are you mildly bilingual in? Its a great advantage!

Not to kill the excitement but during our interview they said a few times to wait until the “full first week of April “
this might actually be the week after. I hope we can all keep busy for one more week ?
Just now, FutureNP90 said:Also, just wondering, if anyone has looked into this, but from previous forums I have read about the Portal? I was able to find it, but IDK about filling out the info and stuff?
I was looking at that and it looks like they signed into the admitted students portal to check on their status. I was thinking about doing that but I didn’t feel comfortable signing up bc they kept advising that you should only sign up after you are admitted

I agree, just being hopeful since it sounds like they say that and on occasion reach out earlier? Some CM students were told two weeks and they found out within the week. I guess its just the wait, its killing mehhh!!

Yes, but the confirmation email with next steps came 2 days after paying the deposit. I ended up going onto the admitted student portal to continue completing the next steps of enrollment (like the background check, drug screening, etc).

Got it, thank you! I'll keep an eye out for that email.

Thank you! I’m semi-bilingual in a very specific dialect of my culture (I can fully understand and read, but can’t speak) which is honestly no help LOL ? However, I know basic Spanish and my husband can conversationally speak in Spanish so we’re both thinking about continuing with lessons so we can become proficient. Since the program doesn’t start for about another 6 months I’m thinking I might as well make great use of my time!
