I haven't yet seen a forum for this cohort yet and I wanted to start one! Applications are due soon and wanted to see how others are going along with the process and see if theres any advice or recommendations that anyone has. This could be with the application, interviews, pre-reqs, HESI, etc. I appreciate those who comment and add to the forum!
A little about me: originally from NYC moved out to Oakland in 2015. I worked in Urgent Care, and have volunteer work during Covid-19. Finishing up a few pre-reqs now and hopefully will have them done in time for the application due date Dec 1st. Let me know if there are any other questions for me, I am very interested to see the backgrounds of others who are also applying, its a stressful but exciting time for everyone! ?

So I read on previous threads that SMU accepts 25 for CM and 25 for FNP? Can anyone else confirm that? From what I remember, I saw one of the ELMSN groups on facebook and it looked like there were more than 50 members so wanted to confirm! I also read that both FNP and CM tracks will pretty much be the same cohort for the first year at least until we then split into our respective tracks in the 2nd year? That's so awesome that all of us will be together.. definitely makes me feel like we'll have a lot of support in the program and lots of people who bring different experiences and perspectives!
I feel like you are right, I've def heard/read that before, so maybe the profile could be for all campuses 2020 students (Sac, and Oakland for that year)? Mildly makes sense if you split the accepted students in half, but it isn't 25 exactly so Im just speculating LOL

Yes! Because its an ABSN to MSN - the first 12 months of the program is the same for both the CM and the FNP track then they split once the BSN portion of the degree is completed, but you don't receive your Nursing degree (BSN and MS) until you complete the entire program, even if you complete the ABSN portion and pass the NCLEX.

That or I wonder if the accepted applicants numbers are just the # of people they extended offers too? and then out of that number maybe around 25 accepted for each of the programs? I'm just speculating at this point!! Just want to dwell on something to make me feel less nervous about the interview! I have heard great things about the program from some alumni that I used to work with about how strong their ELMSN programs are so just makes me want to attend that much more!
Agreed! I visited the Oakland campus and had a great experience, I could honestly see myself there, which would make it so hard if I was rejected LOL, but if that happens Ill try again! But I really hope I get in.

I hope so too. I looked back at last years ELMSN forum for FNP and it looks like they started invites around Feb 21st, this was the Friday before the last week in Feb, which technically was last Friday. I assume with all the cohorts and the pandemic things are on a different timeline, it just doesn't help the anxiety so Im crossing my fingers for an invite ??????

?so far no email which is pretty nerve-wracking but it looks like CM interviews are not until later on in march which means FNP could be having interviews around that time too. and I almost made a portal account but as I was signing up they did emphasize to not sign up if I have not been admitted so I didn't go through with it. I don't know if they just added that recently or if other cohorts still signed up regardless. If anyone else does sign up it would be cool to know what you guys think!
