Samuel Merritt University ABSN Spring 2021

Published

Hello!

I didn't see a thread for the SMU absn Spring 2021 cohort so I just wanted to start one!

I'm currently in the process of applying right now and working on my personal statements!

Hope you are all staying safe during this crazy time!

I hope it's okay to ask but do you already working in the medical field? My GPA is high, I had great references but the only thing I was missing was volunteer exp.

Hey,

I do not work in the medical field. I do have lots of volunteer hours, but they are community based- not healthcare. I have a high GPA as well, and I am guessing some stellar LOR!

@hmtool Yup, Sac campus.

Hey all!

Smu just sent an email stating deadline for next application is still December 1st but we have up to December 16th to take the TEAS/HESI and December 18th to send in our score! We just need to upload a copy of our test registration in the document section of the application under test score report.

Somewhat good news on Friday the 13th!

Have a good day all!

So, should we schedule it on 12:14-12/15 to be safe? Just worried the score won’t come in time

Yay all our emailing worked

I think as long as we take it by 12/16 we are good! I read somewhere that the proctored test results come back right away...

Hi

does Anyone know what score we need to get on the HESI? I don’t see it on the website

nevermind I saw it!
Is anyone taking HESI?

Will you lose your waitlist spot if you reapply?

Yes! I look as it as that we already have no for an answer - might as well try.

Hi guys! I wasn't sure where the best place to put this post in, but hoping that other students applying to the ABSN at SamMerritt might be my best bet. Hoping you guys can give me your feedback! I took the TEAS recently and got an overall score of 92%. However, while I did fine generally, I got a 79.2% in the English/Language section. Technically this is just under their requirement of 80% in each section as well as overall. Trying to understand whether I need to retake it or not...do you guys think I should take my chances and apply, or retake it and try to get my score up..

Here's a breakdown of my scores:

Reading: 85%

Math: 100%

Science: 95.7%

English/Language usage: 79.2%

I have a few classes left for my requirements (applying for Summer '21), but have As in all my science prereqs so far.

Thanks in advance for your help!

@milkTee Hi, I think on their website it says that 80% for each section is the minimum recommended to be a competitive applicant. It is not necessarily a requirement so you can definitely still apply.

Thanks! Yea that is true but I’m wondering if I’ll get booted for a score under 80% + I don’t have pathophysiology completed (planning to take it starting Jan..). No volunteer hours or previous healthcare experience either.

sigh
