Hello all! I am new to Allnurses and I recently decided to change my academic career path from biomedical engineering to nursing. I am (hopefully) going to graduate from San Jose State University in May 2017. I was wondering if anyone has applied/ got accepted to Samuel Merritt's Accelerated BSN program? I was wondering if it's a hard school to get into? I am hoping to apply for Fall 2017. My engineering GPA is not that great but I already took the TEAS and did pretty well on that; I also need to complete Micro, A&P, Nutrition, and a couple other nursing pre-reqs.
I recently went to the Q and A session at the Sacramento campus, and someone asked if they looked down upon someone who had applied multiple times. They said that they welcome applications, no matter how many times you've applied. They didn't seem to look at applicants differently based on whether or not they had already applied. I'm crossing my fingers for all those who haven't heard yet.
I got the update too! It said to keep patient and they will allow additional time if we want to reapply for spring. the waiting is killing me! But, maybe this is good news? Good thing we got an update instead of a denial? Everything is on hold until we get that email. Summer classes at the local cc start next monday, and I really want an acceptance email so I don't have to retake classes. :/
Update from SMU this afternoon:
"Thank you for your patience as we continue to review applications for the Fall 2017 Accelerated BSN program in Sacramento and San Mateo. We know that you are eagerly awaiting an decision on your application and apologize for the delay. We hope to have an admission decision to you shortly but cannot give a specific date at this time. We know this is concerning as the deadline for the Spring 2018 ABSN program is this Saturday. We want to reassure you that if the decision on your current application is unfavorable and you wish to reapply, we will allow you additional time to submit an updated application. "
