Samuel Merritt Spring 2021 BSN

Published

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to start a thread for the Spring 2021 term at SMU. Has anyone applied or planning on applying? Feel free to drop your stats and scores!

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who got accepted letter this morning. I am happy for you guys. I got rejection letter. if you don't mind to share what's stats?

Does anyone know if our TEAS score has to be on the application at the time of submission?

I was also rejected. I really thought I’d at least be waitlisted. Do you think fall will be as competitive?

I think Fall will for sure be competitive, a lot of people usually apply to East Bay instead of SMU because of the price. But East Bay has suspended their program until Spring 22'. I don't think it'll be as competitive simply because the TEAS/HESI will be a requirement again. Once this pandemic stuff calms down a bit, I think the competitiveness will also calm down.

I’m hoping because they have reinstated the testing requirement and the deadline is less than a month away, it will weed out some people.

It was extremely competitive this time, try not to be down on yourself about it. Sometimes timing just doesn’t work in our favor. I know that’s easier said than done, but thinking that I didn’t get in because something better is awaiting me, really helps. If this is a career path you really want to pursue I say go for it!! Apply to as many schools as you can. You could always get a bachelors in something and then come back and apply for ELMSN (I think that program is less competitive). There are many paths to get you to where you want to go, you just gotta find those doors and open them ❤️

Thank you so much for these encouraging words. I'm going to crash study to take the HESI this month and apply again! I'm also going to start looking at paths for a non-nursing bachelors that hopefully won't take too long (I'm almost 30 LOL so I think that gets to me a lot). But thank you again and best of luck to you in everything!!

I did not mention this earlier, but congratulations to everyone who got in! You guys worked really hard and I am excited about the new journey you guys are about to start! For those who did not make it in this round, keep going because you got this! This moment does not define your capabilities and I know we are all going to become great nurses one day. I'm rooting for all of us regardless of where we are on this nursing path. Good luck and stay healthy! ?

Hello,

Does anyone also want to email Anne - asking for a possible extension for the Fall Application due date? I also did. Since, we weren't sure about when the results were coming in and 3 weeks isn't enough time. I feel more people emailing the better.

Congrats to all!

I got admitted guys! I can't wait to meet you in our cohort soon!

Hoping for the best to those who are in the WL!

Is there a facebook group or some sort for this cohort??

Congratulations! Someone should make a FB group. That'd be very beneficial!
