Hello everyone!

I just wanted to start a thread for the Spring 2021 term at SMU. Has anyone applied or planning on applying? Feel free to drop your stats and scores!

Wow I'm so sorry to hear that! I was really rooting for you!

I just want to reiterate what you're saying about how it does not take away from your potential to become a great nurse. I know that rejections can feel extremely personal, but they are not! They don't say anything about you as a person (just as acceptances don't mean that you will be a better nurse/person). This year was especially difficult because of the whole pandemic mess.

I have gotten to know you in a way over the past couple months through this forum, and you really seem like such a nice and genuine person. I'm proud of you for keeping your head up.

Thank you so much for this. I really appreciate it. Some days it’s hard because I’ve worked so hard and it feels like there’s nothing to show for it. Waiting over a year for this sort of outcome is not ideal. But then I try to think in the way that it makes me a stronger person, more resilient. Although it really sucks haha.

I wish you the best and I think you will do great things in the program. Make us all proud!! This is an exciting new chapter for you guys, go out and celebrate. I hope to see you in the workforce at some point in the future.

Specializes in MA.

Congratulations to everyone that got in!! I have been silently watching this forum and finally decided to make an account. I got a rejection letter this morning and kind of bummed. I pretty much have a mix of all A's and B's except for Chemistry and Psychology I got a C in both. I also have 7 years of paid healthcare experience. Contemplating whether I should apply for fall 2021 ?. But congratulations and best of luck to everyone that's been accepted and waitlisted for Spring!

I got admitted guys! I can't wait to meet you in our cohort soon!

Hoping for the best to those who are in the WL!

Is there a facebook group or some sort for this cohort??

It was extremely competitive this time, try not to be down on yourself about it. Sometimes timing just doesn’t work in our favor. I know that’s easier said than done, but thinking that I didn’t get in because something better is awaiting me, really helps. If this is a career path you really want to pursue I say go for it!! Apply to as many schools as you can. You could always get a bachelors in something and then come back and apply for ELMSN (I think that program is less competitive). There are many paths to get you to where you want to go, you just gotta find those doors and open them ❤️

Good morning!

I just received my acceptance email this morning! This has been a 10 year long process for me, and I couldn't be more excited!

I can't wait to meet you all!

Good luck to those who have been waitlisted or who are reapplying!

Specializes in Medical Assistant- 10 years.

Good Morning All!

I have been wait listed ( #11 out of 37 ) for BSN Spring 2021. Still feels like a rejection and I'm not sure if I should be hopeful to still get in, though the email says this number is very "fluid" and they anticipate movement over the next few months.

-Does anyone know more about being wait listed?

- I'm now crash preparing to take the HESI2 so I can apply for Fall cohort. To confirm the HESI2 is reinstated for Fall application right? Anyone else taking it to apply for Fall?

I feel with college admissions, especially with nursing, I've noticed they don't really have a set way of admitting people. This being my second time applying in general, the first time around a bunch of people got in that had lower stats and some of them didn't even have volunteer or work experience. Honestly I think luck plays a huge factor in which way they decide to go. Wha

By clicking Yes you are waiving your right to see the references. Schools would prefer you to say yes because then they feel that because you haven’t seen the letters they are more reliable.

Keep your head up! I know it's tough, but this year was so competitive. A lot of public schools canceled their programs which pushed a lot of people to SMU. There are many ways to get to where you want to be! Rejection does not reflect who you are, or how good of a nurse you will be. One of my professors got rejected her first time applying and she was just heartbroken. She then reapplied and got a full ride! She ended up rejecting it because she realized it wasn't for her. Don't give up ?
