Hello everyone!

I just wanted to start a thread for the Spring 2021 term at SMU. Has anyone applied or planning on applying? Feel free to drop your stats and scores!

Do you guys know what’s the deadline for fall 2021 application? Is it Dec 1st? I can’t find it anywhere on their website...

My name is Judith and I have been reading this forum for the last couple of months and I have to say that y’all sound like an amazing group of people. Y’all have been so informative and encouraging here and I absolute love it.

Hey guys. I’m a bit anxious about decisions and wanted to get your input on the situation. When I asked a few weeks ago if there’s a possibility of getting early notification I got a positive response and was told we would know BY nov 10th. I asked again this week and the response changed to now we will be finding out directly on nov 10th, (there’s a slim chance of finding out sooner because of the “enormous amount of applications.”) IDK if you guys are following the ABSN thread but their decisions keep getting postponed which is worrying me even more. I’m starting to think ours could get delayed past nov 10th... Do you think we should just assume the worst and not expect them until later in the month? It would be a crappy feeling to wake up on the 10th expecting a response and there is not one ?

Hi Momo26,  I feel for you! May I ask if it makes a difference when you find out the decision? Did you apply to other schools? Is SMU the school you want to go to? 

I'm only asking, because we can't change the fact that we have to wait. I'm mentally and physically preparing myself to reapply just in case for Fall 2021. As much as I want a decision as soon as possible,  I tell myself we are going to have the decision no later than January 4th ?. 

Try to keep yourself busy. I know it's hard during covid, but you are going to drive yourself crazy.

Keep yourself busy and don’t worry. Make sure you start your application for fall 2021 and be sure to have your other plans ready. Whatever happens, happens. It’s out of our hands now and all we have to do is wait. Go to the gym and get swole, read a good book, meditate, spend some time away from researching admissions. It’s only going to feed into the anxiousness. You got this. Be positive ?

Hi Mimi, Thank you for your thoughtful response. You're right about staying busy and not worrying because we can't change the outcome. It's just easier said than done unfortunately. I'm not taking any classes right now, I'm working but I only work 2-3 days a week. So in the rest of my off time this is all I think about. I've tried distracting myself with other things (watching shows/movies, going out (to the extent possible atm) I just find myself circling back to when they're going to email us.

I'm sure everyone can relate / understand it is very difficult not knowing what the future holds for you as an individual. I like to be in charge of most things in my life and this is something I can't really control. I guess I can take it as a learning experience haha

Thanks for the encouragement! I just started the fall 2021 app this past week! Yeah, thats all we can do at this point. I'm going to try my best to block it out of my mind. We'll see how it goes LOL

I totally understand where you coming from! If you only knew how bad I really want to get in! And I know everyone is a strong applicant, that's where I feel a little lost because I can't compare and contrast with other applicants to know how high or low my chances are. ?

I think I already drove myself crazy for many months, I just adjusted to the point where I just have to wait. Let me tell you I can't watch anything on Netflix anymore ??

I just started watching the tv series “ratched”. It’s about a nurse!! Haha see, I’m even unconsciously thinking about it. 

I think I’ll hit the breaking point eventually like you did and just accept it. I sense it coming soon LOL

Haha like I said I probably watched everything on Netflix. I watched "ratched". I actually liked it LOL

Haha yes I feel the same way, I think it is happening soon. My gut feeling is telling me LOL
