Hello everyone!
I just wanted to start a thread for the Spring 2021 term at SMU. Has anyone applied or planning on applying? Feel free to drop your stats and scores!

I just went on NursingCAS's live chat and it was a bit confusing. I sent in my transcript on August 18 and my community college said that it was "received" on August 19. However, after chatting with NursingCAS, they said that they haven't received my transcript yet? I'm not sure if it needs a few more business days to process, but I'm so anxious!
I asked if SMU will still be able to see my grades even if they come in late (after August 28) and the NursingCAS agent said yes, but NursingCAS will not reverify my grades. So I am a little lost on how to interpret this response.
Did you order the transcript to be sent through the mail or electronically?
Hey guys,
After reading your posts about the academic update and sending transcripts to NursingCAS, does anyone know the answer to this question? I was on live chat with NursingCAS but I just want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly.
So, if transcripts aren't received by Aug 28, they won't verify those classes? Or as long as the academic update was completed by Aug 28, the transcripts can go in at any time?
I took a class that just finished a couple of days ago, and I'm waiting for the school to post grades, however, I'm a little anxious that I might miss that deadline if the school doesn't post soon!

When you chatted with nursingcas what did they tell you? I was under the assumption that if it is received by the 28th it will still go through.. shocking at how unclear they are ? I say just contact them again to get clarification.

They said that yes, it needs to be received by the 28th... but like everywhere else, including the email says: "Before we can start verifying your coursework, you must have an updated official transcript from each school where you completed new coursework sent to us by January 15, 2021. Verifications occur in chronological order by complete date and on average take two weeks to complete. After your coursework is verified, your GPAs will be recalculated to include the new coursework."
I'll chat again tomorrow and keep you guys posted
What I've been told is that once you finish your classes, you update them thru Nursing CAS. Once you click the update button after you enter your grade/s in, it will save it and you can see your transcripts in NursingCAS. It will look like all of the other classes even though it hasn't been verified by a transcript. You will send a second transcript to Samuel Merritt if accepted after ALL prerequisites have been completed.
So, you only need to send one to nursingCAS, and then if admitted to the program you send a second one to Samuel Merritt directly.
I asked similar question a couple weeks ago, and that’s the response that I got from them. I hope it helps
“Thank you for contacting Nursing CAS
Additional coursework does not automatically go through verification again. Verification only happens at two times, when you submit your application or when you submit for academic update during specific academic update periods. For the 2019-2020 those periods are listed below
Fall Academic Update (AU) II opens December 1, 2020
Fall Academic Update (AU) II closes
January 15, 2021
You may submit for an academic update during that time to have the classes added to the GPAs however before that time they school will just get the updated information as complete but not verified.
If you have any additional questions please let us know,
Thank you

Just chatted with NursingCas, this is the information I received: You can only update once during the Spring/Summer academic update period (which started may 28-august 28). You can add the grades for Summer courses which can be verified with a new transcript, but there will not be a new academic update.
(MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) responded to my email and said that because my application is verified they will still look at it. If the grades are listed for Summer but not verified they will move your application to the back until they go through everyone elses. So if you are worried that the courses won't get verified by august 28th, you'll be fine.
