Samuel Merritt Spring 2017 ABSN

Published

Hello! I just wanted to make a thread specifically for those who are applying to the Samuel Merritt ABSN for a spring 2017 start. I'm applying to start in April 2017. It's the only program I'm applying to, as I can't afford more than a year without an income and I really want a BSN and not an MSN at this time. I'm done with my application, just waiting for nursing CAS to verify all my transcripts before I click submit! Currently working full time and taking my last 3 pre recs online. What about you?

Just a reminder to everyone to keep checking your spam folder even after you get in. I get some stuff in my inbox but also a ton of really important communications going straight to spam!

Or I think it is called Junk folder in Gmail.

Good morning everyone! Anybody still on the waitlist and if so, have you heard anything? I've been trying to email counselor D with questions, but I haven't gotten any response :(

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting, but I have been following the forum for awhile now. I am number 3 on the waitlist for San Mateo - June. I emailed the San Mateo counselor last week and he said to keep an eye out for an email within the next month because there is a good chance that I will be admitted off of the waitlist. Hopefully that happens! Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!

Hi Tai, Are you waitlisted for april? I just declined my spot for april so there should be a spot!

Hi Lilysusan! I applied for June. I'm going to call admissions within the next couple of days to try to get some answers, since no one is emailing back. Thanks for letting me know!

Hi Britt, did you ever hear back from the school? or did you get in touch with anyone?

Did anyone enroll in the health insurance with SMU yet? I have health insurance through work that will go until I start the program in June. So I don't see why we would have to have the health insurance start by the orientation date which is a month before the program starts. I'd rather keep my current insurance until the program starts and I won't have work insurance anymore. I guess I have to do a waiver for May and start the other insurance in June. Don't really want to pay for an extra month of their insurance.

Hi Duke, I waived out of the health insurance because I also currently have work insurance. I'm going to figure out how to get insurance later

Thanks, Finnieng. I am doing the same. I got the official Financial Aid offer today. Looks like it's just the same as the preliminary offer.

If you lose your health insurance when you quit your job, you can sign up with Covered California and it may be much cheaper than the school insurance, depending on your income and age.

Disappointed in the financial aid- I thought at least they'd give a little token grant/scholarship! (This has been my past experience with expensive schools. It may not help much, but makes you feel better. Especially since tuition appears to have gone up $700/semester, $2100/year)

Thanks for the idea RNtobeee, def going to look into other insurance to start in June. I waived with my current insurance for May.
