Samuel Merritt ELMSN Sacramento 2011

U.S.A. California

Hey everyone- I thought it was time to start a new thread for the up and coming applicant pool for the ELMSN Sacramento cohort 2011. Five months until applications are due and it doesn't hurt to start communicating with one another already. I met with the admissions counselor last week and she gave me many pointers on how to strengthen my application. Can't wait to hear from some others out there who will be in it with me for the remainder of the year hoping to get into SMU.

My next interview for CM is on this coming Tuesday.

And for CM program, they have another scheduled interview in the first week of september.

So, the results of CM interviews probably will be known either after or during the 2nd week of september.

I don't think they said when the next interview would be, just that it was smaller and would be sometime this week. Has anybody else heard anything? Maybe I'm imagining it, but I thought I heard them say it twice.

Yes, they did say at our interview that there was another interview being held after us which was a smaller group. SAbina, how do u think they interview went?

I'm worried because my goal statement was specific to the ABSN. I decided after I shadowed that I was ready for the ELMSN and at that time I was not able to modify my statement. I was under the impression that goal statements could be modified after submission. Did anyone else think that? Do you think this will affect my acceptance?

I was told that there would probably be another interview (group interview?) for the FNP program as applications were recently still being reviewed.

All I know is my heart is pumping out-of-my-chest! I am so nervous, anxious and excited JUST to get that opportunity to sit in front of that panel so they can see me for themselves! I am checking my phone and email, literally every 20 minutes in hopes of recieving an interview for this last round.

Is there anyone out there who has been through this process? I am still nervous about the interview, even though I am confident in myself and my abilities: you just never know.

Well then, in the midst of such angst I bid us all some 'Good Luck!!!'

May we continue to 'hang in there,'

Hi Aarti,

It was good to meet you in person on Sat and I think that you interviewed very well. I have to agree with the people who posted last year, it was a very different experience. I think that they know how intimidating the interview can be, and they did their best to try to put us at ease from the start. I'm still mulling it over 2 days later. I'm curious about how the whole admission process works, and how much weight is placed on any single component - academic background, personal statement, etc. I also wonder what they were looking for in the interview. I have met people in the past who look really good on paper, but whose personalities are so abrasive that you just can't stand to be around them. I imagine this would be a way weed out those people - but there must be more to it than that. Ahh - speculation is so wonderful when you have no information, it makes your mind spin round.

BeckyGalNP - hang in there. The anticipation can be overwhelming. Good luck to you!

Hi Sabina,

I'm Mallory. Do you remember me from the interview? I have been thinking about it NON STOP! You are not alone. I feel like I may have talked too much. It happens when I get nervous. Some people clam up and others blurt out nonsense (like me)! DO you know when the last interview is. O man, I hate this part. Its almost as bad as the anticipation about the interview itself.

I'm with you guys! I cannot stop thinking about it! The anticipation is killing me. I'm still not positive we will hear this week as ---- said, because in past years most applicants weren't notified until October, and that's what ------ has said as well. Has anyone heard when the third interview is? I wonder if they are waiting until they interview everyone to start making decisions. Hang in there everyone... at least we're all in the same boat together!

I have not heard back yet either. I was notified by nursingCAS that my application was complete a little more than two weeks ago. I called today and they said that they are still reviewing applications that were released to them in July. I'm starting to get nervous about both applications.

I think for those people who haven't heard anything yet, that you have a great possibly of still getting into that last interview group. I know that during my interview they told me that there were a number of people that they had invited to the group interview who were unable to attend for whatever reason and that they were still going to get interviewed. I think they'll probably combine the ones who couldn't make it with some of you guys who haven't heard anything yet.

Last year during our group interview the professors told our group that we would be hearing within three weeks. That was totally wrong, it took a lot longer. Whatever timeline they said is pretty much what we should be going off of. Usually they do offer a number of early admission spots so those could be going on in the next couple of days.

I'm with you guys on stressing on this and thinking non stop about it. It's impossible not too, we are all dying to get into this school. Good luck to everyone!

I keep over analyzing everything I did or said. :( I was really hoping to know by the end of this week if we got accepted, but after reading this post it seems like that is not going to happen. I wonder if anyone from our group got an early acceptance...

Mallory, I think it says on NursingCas that we can't make changes on our personal statement after it has been submitted, which sucks. I don't think you talked too much, you made some good points. =)

Sabina, I was wondering the same thing about how much the interview is weighed. I wonder if those who made it to the interview are all on the same playing field (if that makes any sense)

Well, it was nice meeting you two! Hopefully we are all get accepted.

Ark,

Don't worry about the content of application or the personal statement since you were already invited to the interview.

If they did not like your personal statement, they would not interview you.

Obviously, they liked what they saw and your application package scored high enough points.

So, just relax and let it be for now until you hear a status from them.
