Hey everyone- I thought it was time to start a new thread for the up and coming applicant pool for the ELMSN Sacramento cohort 2011. Five months until applications are due and it doesn't hurt to start communicating with one another already. I met with the admissions counselor last week and she gave me many pointers on how to strengthen my application. Can't wait to hear from some others out there who will be in it with me for the remainder of the year hoping to get into SMU.

Same here I've only heard positive things about the school. I have not applied anywhere else either.

Have you been able to shadow an NP?

Yes, I shadowed a NP in rhode island . I am trying to shadow one at Sutter General since i volunteer there, but i am having a hard time arranging something.

Have you shadowed, volunteered, or have health care experience?

Ya Sutter was hard for me, I never got in but if you have volunteered there then all your records and everything are on file so it shouldn't be too bad. I think its probably easier to find a private practice. I volunteered at Dominican Hospital for 3 months a while back. I have been trying to find an NP that I can shadow everyone just seems to be super busy or on vaca. Thats a good thing I suppose. I wanted to have done this before the interview. Oh well, if I get it after I'll be just as grateful.

I have scheduled an interview for the ELMSN-CM program on 8/31 as well. I'm super excited for this opportunity!

Megan- Did you apply to both CM and FNP?

Yes I did. I have not heard anything from the FNP program yet, so I'm not sure what that means, because I know interviews are within the week. My job experience is more related to the CM specialty, so I think it's more up my ally for now.

Same here! I read that too about the interviews being unique. I guess we will soon find out.. 4 more days!!

Good luck to those who are interviewing today. It's only two more days for those of us on the 28th. I think I'm too curious about the interview process to be nervous about it. Any word about any other interview dates?
