Hey everyone- I thought it was time to start a new thread for the up and coming applicant pool for the ELMSN Sacramento cohort 2011. Five months until applications are due and it doesn't hurt to start communicating with one another already. I met with the admissions counselor last week and she gave me many pointers on how to strengthen my application. Can't wait to hear from some others out there who will be in it with me for the remainder of the year hoping to get into SMU.
I don't know, I have a hard time being vague. It seems like the more passionate you are about being a nurse, the better. I really want to be a nurse then a NP. The one I work with remembers personal information about her clients and I can see their eyes light up when she mentions it. That's they type of health care provider I want to be. I want to be able to really get to know my patients. I think that either way I'm going to make sure they know how much this means to me and about my clinical studies with the FNPs.

What I meant was she said be general about FNP and Nurse bec u are apply to both, not about your passion for the field. That's why I'm having a hard time balancing both fnp and nurse in my essay. I agree, the more passionate you show you are the better. Good Luck!
Oh I know, I just didn't realize that I was applying to both with only one application, I was under the inpression that I could change and update things on the website. Under the FAQ section it seemed to indicate that I could resubmit my application once I made changes. CRAP~! I wrote about how much I've wanted to become a nurse and get into the field of nursing. I really didn't touch on the FNP side of things. I hope that I can get something to the admissions board about how I do want to be an FNP.
i asked liza that same question she gave me this link
http://www.atitesting.com/ati_store/product.aspx?zpid=942
i hope this helps. if not go to the top of the page and click the online store from there you will see a link to buy an ati transcrip for $20. you need to add it to your cart and check out. then you pick the school you can to send it to, if you are sending it to samuel merritt choose the oakland campus option. i hope this works for you!
No I haven't heard anything yet, but NursingCAS hasn't even posted my GPA info yet, because some of my transcripts just got there. Last year calls for interviews started going out in late July so don't worry too much yet. I think they called me like July 29th for an interview for August 8th last year. We still have some waiting to do.....

According to Liza, NursingCas only allows you to do one personal statement. She told me to keep it general since I'm applying to both absn and elmsn. So I'm writing about why i want to do nursing and eventually be a fnp. I volunteer at a local hospital in the ER dept where there are no NP's and did some job shadowing with an np. Other than that, I don't have any real experience working with a NP.
I would call and find out if you can send additional info to them after you have submitted you application bec I'm not sure that you can.
