Samuel Merritt ELMSN, FNP program, Fall 2016 Oakland

Published

Hello,

I didn't see a thread for the Fall 2016 ELMSN, FNP program. I recently applied to Samuel Merritt's ELMSN, FNP program in Oakland, CA. Has any one else applied? Any graduates have any feedback? I'm really excited about Samuel Merritt's Family Nurse Practitioner program. I'd really like to pursue primary and mental health. With that, I think a focus on FNP first would help.

Hello, I was interviewed last Thurs. at 3pm for the Fall 2016 ELMSN FNP. I probably met a couple of you. I wish us all the best luck on this journey! It's a great program!!

Me, too! I think I know who you are considering there were only two males in our group...but I really hope you get in. You are more than qualified.

Hey everyone, is anyone still waiting to hear anything? I haven't gotten rejected but I haven't gotten an interview yet....no idea what that means. Any thoughts? Thanks so much!

Hi @Questions245, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I believe yesterday was the last day of interviews. I thought you would like to know rather than wait around. I wish you the best of luck!

Oh okay, bummer. I thought we would at least get a rejection letter.

Thanks!

At yesterday's interview they said decisions would be made next week and everyone will be notified then whether they have been accepted, waitlisted, or rejected. I'm pretty sure she said those who are accepted will be notified by phone and those waitlisted will be told their number on the list by email.

Awesome, thanks for all the info! Just gotta wait a taaaad bit longer. Good luck!

Yeah, super-duper bummer indeed! I had to send updated fall 2015 grades to NursingCAS earlier this month during the academic update period. While NursingCAS was verifying and updating my transcripts, you guys were posting that you were getting interview calls. Looks like I'm out of the running this year, boo! I'm kind of wondering if SMU even reviewed my application after the new grades came in (I'm also taking one last pre-req that finishes in May, so I wonder if that hurt me as well). Do grades that aren't in by the application deadline affect your admission status? The website does say as long as they are complete by entry of the program... Oh well... I really hoped I'd be called for an interview. I have a 4.0 in bost-bac pre-reqs, a 3.8 cumulative undergrad gpa from a top 5 ranked university. I scored an 86 overall in the TEAS. I worked as an EMT for a year and have 2 years working in direct patient care at a community clinic. I'm hoping that the reason I wasn't called was because things were still in flux on my application, but you honestly never know with an acceptance rate hovering around 10%. There could be something "off" in my application/experience/etc that I need to reflect upon and figure out how to fix. Either way, it's a bummer! Good luck to everyone waiting for those final decisions. From what you've all posted, you are all serious candidates and if you don't end up at SMU, I hope you end up somewhere equally exciting and fitting :)

Did anyone else make use of the academic update period? Is anyone else still working on pre-reqs?

I would recommend making an appointment with the admission's people. I have applied a few times to this program and made use of talking with them to see what they suggest to change.

Once I have the physical rejection letter, I definitely will do that.

Hey gstoss, KO_1219, and benrz

Thanks for a fun interview! I hope we will see each other in the future. Please post on this thread when you hear back?

Y.

Thanks! It was nice meeting you! Hopefully we will hear soon!! í ½í¸¬

The exact same thing happened to me. They were "verifying" one of my transcripts, and I think they didn't even review my application. I got accepted at another nursing school and have already accepted, but I am not sure whether I will even hear back from Samuel Merritt. It was very strange.
