Samuel Merritt ELMSN, FNP program, Fall 2016 Oakland

Published

Hello,

I didn't see a thread for the Fall 2016 ELMSN, FNP program. I recently applied to Samuel Merritt's ELMSN, FNP program in Oakland, CA. Has any one else applied? Any graduates have any feedback? I'm really excited about Samuel Merritt's Family Nurse Practitioner program. I'd really like to pursue primary and mental health. With that, I think a focus on FNP first would help.

Congratulations!!! That is awesome to hear. I think I'm going to turn off my phone now and go for a hike to keep myself from checking every five min [emoji16] haha!

KO_1219 I really don't know in what order they are going. If you go on your NursingCas app and download it there is a ranking # on there which I believe shows where you are on their list, but that is pure speculation on my part. Just stay positive and you will see that you too will get that email.

Congratulations LoveFNP2b! While I'd love to think of my self as rank 1 or 2, I can safely say it's a different coding system. ;)

I just looked over 3 apps (2 for spring entry I didn't get into) and was 1 or 2 on all of them.

Bummer benrz, hope you get good news soon as it is very frustrating to just have your life on hold while you get into grad school.

Congratulations, LoveFNP2b! Happy for you! Fingers crossed for the rest of us.

Congratulations to those who have been accepted and good luck to those who are still waiting! Stay positive!!!

I had my interview yesterday (2/22) and received my acceptance letter today for the CM program. I'm still in a state of shock. Has anyone else heard back from CM interviews?

My interview is next Monday for the CM program.

Out of curiosity, I checked and I have a number 1 ranking and I was never called for an interview... I'm guessing it doesn't mean anything. :(

Also, just wanted to share for all the folks who weren't called that I called SMU admissions today and asked when we would hear news one way or the other and was told that there was no timeline, but it would be via email... :-/

Not super helpful!

Congrats on acceptance to CM program! I interviewed yesterday as well. That was super quick!!! What time did you receive acceptance? And were you interviewing in the morning or afternoon session?

I interviewed in the morning. It was a really small group. Was there a lot of people during your time slot?

I received my email a little before 4pm today. I'm not sure if it made a difference or not but it was shortly after I sent both the interviewers thank you emails.

There was a total of 9 interviewees in the afternoon session. But wow, that's amazing! I'm excited for you. I really hope to hear from them soon then. After the interview, I did further research on what my interviewer was telling me about CM as well as talked to a couple relatives who are case managers at Stanford and Kaiser SoCal. My discussions with them make me even more intrigued by the profession. I did apply to all of SMU's entry level programs though (FNP, ABSN, and CM). My interviewer was kind of questioning that... lol, but it was because SMU was my first choice, and I just wanted to see how competitive I'd be. Anyhow, I was thinking they weren't going to send acceptances until after next week's interviewers, but it's nice to see the quick turnaround. Maybe I'll draft up a thank you e-mail to send them too ;). I'll let ya know if it works in my favor lol Congrats again!
