Samuel Merritt ELMSN, FNP program, Fall 2016 Oakland

I didn't see a thread for the Fall 2016 ELMSN, FNP program. I recently applied to Samuel Merritt's ELMSN, FNP program in Oakland, CA. Has any one else applied? Any graduates have any feedback? I'm really excited about Samuel Merritt's Family Nurse Practitioner program. I'd really like to pursue primary and mental health. With that, I think a focus on FNP first would help.

Waitlisted! #18 so I don't anticipate a spot opening up, but crazier things have happened. It looks like I'll be accepting my offer of admission to the San Mateo campus ABSN, so I guess I'll be starting in April! Good luck to everyone still waiting!

I just received an acceptance letter (email) for Fall 2016 ELMSN FNP cohort. I am hoping that everyone receives good news or does NOT give up! Warm regards.

I just received an email as well, #3 on the waitlist. I'm not really sure how many people they take off the waitlist but hopefully its at least a few!

Just received an e-mail. Wait listed #25, so I don't really think I have a chance for the FNP. It was definitely an interesting interview experience and I'm glad to have been considered. Congrats to those who received acceptance notifications!!!

Would any of the admitted students mind stating how long they have to pay the deposit?

Just received an email. I'm #5 on the waitlist. I hope that the waitlist moves a bit but we will just have to wait and see. I'm still awaiting acceptance to SMU's ABSN Oakland May cohort so hopefully I get into that.

I think you still have a great chance for the FNP program. With being that high on the FNP waitlist, I'd bet you have a really good chance of being accepted into their ABSN program. Good luck!!

Thank you ajk13! I'm still unsure if I'm going to accept it, however, I am gonna pay that deposit tonight since it's due within 10 days of admission notification. I'd still like to see if I get into other ELMSN programs. I'm still kind of intimidated by the financial aspect of the ABSN. No financial aid and little to no federal loans available. Also, I've learned you can't consolidate federal and private loans, and private loans are ineligible for government loan forgiveness programs. Granted, as an RN, I would make a nice income here in the Bay Area, and I'd start practicing sooner vs later. It'll a tough decision!
