Hello,
I didn't see a thread for the Fall 2016 ELMSN, FNP program. I recently applied to Samuel Merritt's ELMSN, FNP program in Oakland, CA. Has any one else applied? Any graduates have any feedback? I'm really excited about Samuel Merritt's Family Nurse Practitioner program. I'd really like to pursue primary and mental health. With that, I think a focus on FNP first would help.
HI y'all, getting ready to apply, but I see something new on the elmsn prerequisites page. On top of the page it says they only need either TEAS "or" HESI. But at the bottom fine print, it says Spring 17 start date will need to have HESI at time of application. Does this mean they now need both Teas "And" Hesi?. I only have teas, didn't see the hesi requirement last year, anyone taken both? Need to schedule it now.
Hi, I am currently in the Samuel Merritt ELMSN program. If you are currently accepted I'd like to invite you to fb pages. You should also make a fb page for your cohort also, (FNP & CM combined..for now).

Congratulations, on getting accepted!! Did you get accepted to Oakland or Sacramento? I would relax while you can. The first year is the most difficult. One thing some classmates have mentioned if you are an EMT, CNA or have other medical experience it does help some because you already have some idea or the disease process and comorbidities. Such as hypertension, heart disease, atherosclerosis (hardening of arteries), high cholesterol, diabetes. If you don't Web MD, or even wikipedia is a good place to get familiar with some of these.

Hi ucdavis! Please don't ever be discouraged when you look at stats on their website or the stats here. I thought I had no chance of getting into any masters program with such a low GPA but bay area FNP worded it perfectly.. that committees review applications holistically and really take into consideration your experiences and how well you know the field you are applying to. I had ~3.2 GPA (last 90 qt units) but I've worked for a public health nursing program for 3 years and spent a lot of time at a peds vaccination clinic and at the hospital. I learned a lot through my experiences and made sure I conveyed that during my interviews. Good luck next year!
