Samuel Merritt ELMSN, FNP program, Fall 2016 Oakland

Published

Hello,

I didn't see a thread for the Fall 2016 ELMSN, FNP program. I recently applied to Samuel Merritt's ELMSN, FNP program in Oakland, CA. Has any one else applied? Any graduates have any feedback? I'm really excited about Samuel Merritt's Family Nurse Practitioner program. I'd really like to pursue primary and mental health. With that, I think a focus on FNP first would help.

@NanceN that's a small group. We actually had 9 in ours, and I know there were 4 interview sessions. I wonder if anyone who interviewed received a rejection for that program as I know that traditionally not many people apply for the CM Program.

Based on some of the the answers and comments I heard during my group interview from the other candidates...I think there will be at least one rejection. This was my first time doing a group interview for school and it FASCINATES me to hear the types of answers people give.

I agree! I mean you only had 2 other candidates to listen to; I had 8 =P. I will say that I was impressed with the first few questions they asked us because it required you to have knowledge about the biggest issues with the U.S. health care system, but nonetheless it was a great experience for all. I think a few of us (myself included) were caught a little off guard, but the group interview definitely got better as we started keying in on the specifics of the Case Mgmt profession lol.

Hi guys! I am going to apply to the Samuel Merritt FNP program in about a year! I was wondering if any of you that have gotten into the program would share your stats please? The ones on the website are outdated and I feel like gpa has to be a lot higher now! Thank you in advance :)

I ended up signing up for the 3/18 training. Anyone else going?

I actually hadn't calculated mine, but needed to get similar info for scholarship apps:

last 60- 3.57, prereqs (would depend on who calculates it, but this is a rough guess)- 3.68

overall undergrad- 3.37

Not to boast my "low" GPAs, but I think it underscores how they're looking at applications holistically. I have thousands of hours bedside/clinical work and volunteer experience and have near-native Spanish fluency. My advice would be to look for everything you can in your resume that makes you stand out. I had bad luck with the first few schools I applied to, but have since gotten into Johns Hopkins and several ABSN programs, as well.

Has anyone from the waitlist heard anything or any news/changes to their waitlist number?

Hi guys, is there a facebook group for both the CM and FNP admitted students?

KR73, I tried looking a FB group myself but I didn't find one. We should definitely make one for our cohort.

unfortunately this site won't let me respond to your message because I don't have enough posts, but I'm in for CM :)

Congratulations to everyone that got accepted, I'm currently in the ELMSN program so if you have any question feel free to PM me

Should the FB group be a combined CM & FNP one? I can make it! "Samuel Merritt University ELMSN Oakland 2019" Or should it be 2016?
