Samuel Merritt ELMSN FNP FALL 2020 Oakland

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hello fellow applicants, alumni, and SMU associates,

Can anyone provide insight into the application timeline for SMU's ELMSN-FNP program intended to start Fall 2020 (Oakland cohort)? The deadline to submit applications through NursingCAS was December 1, 2019.

-When should we expect correspondence to interview or for denial?

-Are interviews 1:1 or mixed, or both?

-When do final acceptances usually go out?

Thank you all.

@JennivyYes, hi Girl! Did you get some good news?

@M_Freed I’ve been fortunate enough to be accepted into the program. You’re 3 on the waitlist. I’m hoping you see some movement and you get in as well.

@Jennivy Congratulations! That’s wonderful news! I hope to be fortunate that a place opens up for me. Until then, it’s a waiting game!

Hey guys! I don't mean to be too forward but I wanted to know if I could ask some of you guys what your application stats were. I am curious to see what the range in GPAs, volunteer experience, etc that were accepted, waitlisted, etc.

I would really appreciate it so it can better help me understand where I stand!

Does anyone know if there has been a facebook page or anything made for the class yet? I'd love to get to know some classmates before school starts!

3.0 undergrad GPA, 3.3 prereq GPA. HESI scores were 90-93 in math, writing, and anatomy. I currently work as a medical assistant and have been for the past 3-4 years and was a clinical care volunteer during undergrad for about 400 hrs in the hospital rotating through Medsurg, MICU/SICU, Peds, Tele, Admin, and Endoscopy. I was waitlisted at SMU in 2018 and 2019 for both campuses and also interviewed at Western U in 2018. PM me if you have any other questions!

Hi Jackie. When was your interview?. I also was looking for a facebook page but I couldn’t find anything.

@yancio Hi and CONGRATS! I just started a FB page for all of the Fall 2020 cohort since I saw previous years seemed to do it that way! CM and FNP are together for the first year ? "Samuel Merritt ELMSN Fall 2020"

Hello everyone,

I'm in the Entry Level Masters-FNP Program. I'm always getting asked by prospective students or pre-nursing students questions about accelerated nursing programs or entry level master programs.

I go in on my first time around, but so many students who did not get accepted or were wait listed frequently are left without reason for why they didn't get in or how they can improve their application.

If you are interested in learning how to be a competitive applicant? Please reach out to me. I have lots of tips to offer that I believe can help. If you all have any ideas, please send them to me. I feel there is a need for students to know more about this pathway other than the generic program requirements.

Again, if you are interested or no other students who might be interested let them know. I am open to doing a 1:1 session for of little charge. I also will be creating webinars in the coming months. I have a strong interest in studying nursing school admissions and pre-nursing student success.

Message me through this platform.

Hi all!

I'm currently #6 on the waitlist. I'm wondering if it's still worth waiting? I got into an MDE NP-track school on the east coast but would love to stay close to home (from Bay area) as I plan on working in the Bay area after nursing school.

Congratulations to everyone who got accepted!
