I've been looking all over for a thread about SM ELMSN Fall 2012 but have not found any!! So I guess I'll be the first to post something about it. Since application deadline is today, any hopefuls like to share their application experiences, stats, goals, anything related to nursing school? Now that apps are completed, the waiting begins...sooooo exciteddd!!! :nurse: I applied to the FNP track, crossing my fingers :uhoh3:

Hi Resilience,

I cross checked that number with the one that called me from Samuel Merritt and it's the same number. It's most likely the coordinator trying to extend an invitation to come out. She probably didn't leave a message because as slots fill up for interview dates, the dates that are available changes. :)

Naznazy, what time is your interview? I'm in the 1 pm session.

Hi all, I am interviewing on the 20th. Does anyone else on the forum have that same date? I have to say, I think I'm more nervous after reading all the comments and bios than I was before! Clearly the school has a stellar pool of applicants from which to choose. If I'm lucky enough to join the 2012 cohort, I'm really looking forward to meeting and studying with you all. Any specific words of advice from those of you who have already interviewed?

My FNP is the 22nd. I have a feeling that will be the last of the interviews... A lot of people on my email list had last names toward the end of the alphabet... Although there could be one more after. Any tips? Hope everybody's interview went well today and last week!

Hope interviews went well for those who had interviews yesterday!

@Naznazy, I applied for the FNP program and interviewed on Feb. 4.

@xzalense, it might be alphabetical order since I interviewed on the first date and my last initial is F. If they aren't satisfied with the pool of applicants they interviewed, they will probably add more interview dates early March. That has happened in previous years.

Hi guys! I hope everyone's interviews went well and good luck to those who have interviews coming up! I interviewed this past Saturday and they said they are interviewing four more groups which I believe means two more interview dates with two groups on each day.

I actually was not contacted via email for an interview; I received a call and was given three dates to choose from so I'm not really sure if there's alphabetical order to anything. SMU admits people based on a point system - I believe it is 60 points for the application portion which includes your TEAS scores, whether you have completed all the important pre-reqs, your goal statement, letters of rec, gpa, etc. The interview is then worth 20 points in itself. Everything is punched into excel and they offer spots to those with the highest points. I believe if they do offer early admits, those are the people who probably have a near perfect 60 going into the interview and they just want to make sure they're not crazy before they offer them admission :).

Amfo, they didn't give us any information on early admissions but they did tell us that we would be informed by the end of this month/early next month through e-mail. Although, I know that in the past they have offered early admissions to 1-3 students from each interview group if they really stood out. From perusing the forums, I assume if your interview date falls on a weekday and are offered early admission, they call the same day. If your interview falls on a Saturday, you won't hear back until early the following week. I wonder if they have changed it at all this year...but no one has commented that they received an early admit from last week's interview.

For those who are asking for advice, I know it sounds cliche but seriously, just be yourself! This is not a traditional interview so it really is best just to get a good night's sleep and walk in without any specific expectations.

I also interviewed on 2/11. I was so nervous and excited. Did anyone get an early admit? I thought that our group had a lot of impressive people, everyone was really friendly. More waiting...very anxious.

Hi yllekah! I was there on 2/11 as well in the 1 pm session. Were you in the morning or afternoon group? I find it strange that no one has heard back for an early admit despite two interview dates having already gone by. Perhaps they did away with it this year? My phone hasn't left my side :p

Hahah, that is so funny, me too. Every time my phone rings, I jump a little. However, no one has contacted me either. I was in the 1 pm session.
