On a side note, will you guys be the last masters class for FNP because of the new DNP requirement in 2015?

There seems to be a lot of questions throughout the nursing community regarding this change.

Recently, an NP, who is also a professor here in IL, said that students must be enrolled in an NP program before the change goes into effect in order to avoid having to get their DNP. I honestly do not know whether or not this is true. A lot seems to depend on who you talk to. From what I have heard, state boards of nursing and the nursing school accrediting bodies are working diligently to work all of this out.

As for SM, I haven't heard anything from them either way.

Awww congrats to you all who were granted interviews!

I also applied to the ELM FNP program and did not receive an email. Do any of you know if the interview emails are sent out in waves and they haven't finished reviewing the apps? Or does this practically mean rejection? Thanks.

From what I have seen in past threads about Samuel Merritt is that interviews are offered on more than one date. From the way it sounded, interviews were offered in "waves". I have not heard anything "official" regarding this, but that's how interviews seem to have been conducted previously (based on past threads, anyway). I would not make any assumptions based on the fact that you have not yet received an email. I remember reading that in previous years, some applicants with early interview dates did not get accepted while others with later interview dates were ultimately offered a spot.

Please stay positive and keep picturing that email making its way to your inbox. Like Cortisol mentioned, the invitations seem to go in waves. I have also read through many past threads and noticed that people have been invited to interview both early and at later dates and it seemed that the same number of people were offered admission from each group. I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you as well!

Hello everyone,

Congratulations to those who have been invited to interview so far. I'm sure that more invitations will be heading out soon. I'm not sure if there is a way to prepare for SMU's interview, as past interviewees seem to keep quiet to keep the playing field even for all candidates and to keep element of surprise in tact. However, I have gathered that there is an oral and written segment in the interview and some type of partner activity. Know what your statement says and just be yourself. I know we will do well and I'm looking forward to meeting all of you.

Hi Everyone!

Congratulations to those who are invited to interview. Unfortunately, I was not given the opportunity. Interestingly, however, the admission officers for the FNP track thought that I am better suited for the Case Management track and I was given the opportunity to forward my application to the Case Management faculty for review. So, I'm just wondering if anyone received a similar email. Thanks!

Congrats to everyone who got an interview!

Would everyone here be willing to share their stats (GPA & TEAS score)? I've read different things about this school, so I'm not sure if they heavily look at the GPA/TEAS, or if outside activities, letters of rec, and essays could have more of an impact.
