Samuel Merritt BSN Spring 2022

Hi everyone!

I haven't seen anyone post about SMU's BSN program for Spring 2022 in Oakland. Is anyone applying? This is my first time applying and July 1st is coming up quick!

I am also trying to apply for Spring 2022. Did you complete the HESI A2 exam? Also, did you ever attend a seminar?

Best of luck to you! And yes I took the HESI last month and got an 81% it was my first time taking it so overall happy with the results but I am going to take it again next week in hopes of improving my score. I haven’t attended a session but have spoken to many admission counselors over the years. I’ve been interested in SMU since undergrad and have friends that go there so I’m pretty familiar with the school! Have you taken the exam yet?

Hey there,

Almost finished with my application but had a couple questions. I’m going to attend the drop in Q and A tomorrow so hopefully that helps.

Trying to link up my prereqs and wondering what qualifies as a diversity course? I have about 4 prereqs I haven’t linked up to my transcripts yet because I’m uncertain what qualifies.

I took the TEAS and not the HESI - do they take the TEAS too?

Trying to get my recommendation letters together and then I should be all set.

Best of luck everyone ?

Yes, I took mine on Friday. I got a 91.2% hopefully is good enough for the program. I still need to complete my personal statements which I do not know what do write! I have outlined the ideas but that is about it.

What time is the Q&A? They accept the TEAS as long as you scored 80% or higher in each category. Not your overall. So if you had a low score on reading like a 76% but your overall was 87% they won't accept the score.

@Amany

That really stinks! I have a high overall but for some reason English was low for me. Still above national average for English but lower than 80%!

Q and A is drop in at 12-1p today and tomorrow.

I’ll ask about it for sure. Thanks for the heads up!

How in the heck can I complete the HESI before July 1st!?  Maybe they’ll accept it on a contingency.

The Diversity elective was tricky for me too! I had to talk to a counselor and go through the classes I thought would qualify and got approval! So hopefully they can tell you which class would satisfy that requirement.

@Laurene531

Thanks! Hopefully I’ll get some answers today. I’m just amazed at this application process.  It’s definitely more competitive than I was expecting for a private school. I should have known.

The TEAS testing alone is the highest requirement I’ve seen at any school. I suppose this is a good thing overall but man.. I wish I did better in my English section!  My English professors loved me! my TEAS test didn’t. ?

Hello everyone,

I'm also applying for SMU's BSN program for Spring 2022. Goodluck to all of us!!

@trix10

Hello! Have you submitted your application yet? I feel like July came so fast. I'm currently finishing up my essays

@Sandrak

I haven't taken the TEAS yet but I will have to for some other programs I am applying to. I know what you mean! Not a fan of standardized tests but I am happy they give you the option to take either one! Also does anyone know when decisions would be going out?

@Laurene531

Yeah! I've submitted my application a couple days ago! Goodluck on your essays!! I'm also curious about when the decisions comes out.
