OMG!!! why is mail so slow!!! AaAH

Congratulations on both of you!!! :) :) :)

Is there any benefit to going to Oakland? WHy does it seem like it's everyone's first choice?

The Oakland campus has access to all the school extras like the counseling center, health center, and book store. The SF and San Mateo campuses are satellite campuses and you have to travel to Oakland to take advantage of those things. However, there are messenger services that can send your books over to a satellite campus. There is also cheaper rent in East Bay and the program has been around much longer. The newer campuses still have some kinks they're working out. I chose San Francisco because the hospitals are the best. There aren't really any bad clinical choices and you get to go to UCSF, CPMC, SF General, Kaiser SF, etc. I wouldn't it trade for Oakland.

nursewannabe,

are all clinicals in SF? I'm concerned that there may be some outside SF like Redwood City or the outlying cities. I'm fine with clinicals within SF.

ineed2pp:i applied to the san mateo campus, and was told this week that there were 55 applicants, and 48 seats available. .so i hope you'll get your first choice of oakland, do you know when the deadline is to accept your offer??

ineed2pp: upon turning in your application, were all of your prerequisites completd??? i am still working on my final prerequ which is pharmacology, its a self paced course through indiana university.

crisbiss:and crisbiss, were all of your prerequs completed upon turning in your application as well???

and everyone, omg, i have not been able to sleep.:icon_roll . .well congrats to all those who have recieved a offer letter from smc. . i like may others, am still waiting for my letter. .

last year i was accepted to san francisco on the waitlist, being number 12 at the time, and the school notified me about a week prior to the start date. however ,i was unable to accept the offer at the time due to being abroad and out of the country during that time. :crying2:

this year i applied to the san mateo. i have not really heard any comparisons between the 3 campuses yet, but im sure that as students we should be able to manage with either campus.

:heartbeat:redbeathe would anyone mind calling the smc campus and see if any notification letters have been mailed out? i feel like i have called one too many times, and so far the word is that they have not sent any letters out, im sure they do not want to disclose facts that they have sent letters out to some applicants, so they wouldnt scare those of us that are waiting. . .

During the first set of clinicals for the med/surg rotation there are options for Marin General and San Rafael, but people carpool and it's not that bad. Otherwise, they are mostly all in SF. They try to keep clinicals near the campus so they save hospitals south of SF for the San Mateo campus and the hospitals in East Bay for Oakland. Mostly it won't be an issue getting clinicals in the city, but some hospitals are still hard to get to without a car.

hey rockypooh.....

i am in the process of completing one prerequisite class....human development. it's an online class though a cc in san jose......they are on the quarter system and i will just barely make the 3/31 deadline!

everything else was completed.

crisbiss

Rockypooh,

I finished all my prereqs before sending in my apps. And i'm stilll waiting for my letter. AH!

My 1st choice was SF bc i really need some city life in me.. I need to walk to places. I need... LIFE!

I hope you and I both get our letters sometime soon!

Where do you live? Maybe the mail is just being slow for you too. I'm down here in socal.

And that sucks how you were abroad and not able to accept. :(

GOOD LUCK GOOD LUCK! :) I've tried calling the school.. but i'm at work all day and really can never catch any of them. They always give me round about answers anyway. *sigh*

Nursewannabe, Thanks for all the info! I'm really looking forward to doing clinicals in the city. I was born at SF General, had our daughter at CPMC (LOVED the staff of nurses), have visited quite a few relatives at both SF Kaiser, ST. Luke's and CPMC. I'm really not impressed with the East Bay hospitals like Alta Bates (bad experience) and any of the Kaisers in the East Bay (also bad experiences). Class start dates for SF is on my birthday so everyone keeps telling me that's a sign I should take SF even if Oakland becomes available.

Can you tell me about your schedule? What time is the earliest that you have to be at a clinical? PM me if you'd rather... Thanks again!!

CrisBiss, thank you for your response, during this agonizing time of waiting for a letter, any info really helps. Again congrats !!!!

Hey everyone, I was just wondering for those who got acceptance letters when do you have to reply by? Thanks!

Poppyseed, I believe the date to reply by was February 25.

Feb 25? Gosh.. that's soon. So where's my letter?

THe light of hope is getting dimmer.... dimmer... fading..

I'm supposing that they'll send the rejection letters along with the acceptance ones right? So it's either one or the other in the mail.

Crossing my fingers!!!
