  1. I definitely agree that you should do all the homework assignments because it does help with understanding the concepts better. Make sure you learn how to use your graphing calculator because it does help a lot if your teacher allows you to use it during the test. Statistics may seem hard at first but once you figure out the formulas and what is it asking for you will think it is sort of fun. Definitely pay attention to class lectures and always ask questions when you don't understand a concept because it will help you with your homework and prepare you for the test.
  2. It really depends on what you are more interested in. Going to forums will definitely help you get an idea of what each field is about and you get to read about the prereqs, class experiences and clinical experiences, which can give you a better idea of what you would prefer. I would definitely encourage you to go into nursing if you have the passion to become one because the hard work does pay off. The length of school varies depending on what type of program you enroll into. You can try calling hospitals and talking to unit managers about shadowing a nurse. They can let you know more information and may even guide you to the right place. Remember that nurses work all over the place not just hospitals so consider looking into shadowing a school nurse, a nurse in an elderly home or a nurse in the public health system just to name a few. GOOD LUCK!!
  3. If you have time you should go to Borders or Barnes and Noble and they have these laminated quick study guides and they have one for medical terminology. It would be very useful for you and it is cheap and comes in handy.
  4. I think I will order the NCBSN since it seems to be getting positive reviews. I've been using the Saunder's book which has been great and the NCLEX 4000. So hopefully NCBSN would be helpful as well!
  5. I also have the Mosby Memory Notecards and it is pretty good. The pictures and the way it is organized makes learning drugs easier.
  6. Congrats!! All the hard work paid off!! I can just imagine how it was like during the waiting process. Congrats again!
  7. You are never too old! As long as you have the passion and drive to obtain your dream anything is possible! You have more life experiences which would be beneficial to you during nursing school. I think which ever degree is fastest should be the route you should take since nowadays it is so competitive to get into nursing school. Definitely go for it!
  8. When you are taking the core classes like Anatomy, Physiology and Microbiology make sure you are taking lighter courses along with it. It would be best if you took one subject each semester that way you can focus and do well on it because grades are very important when applying to nursing school. Definitely consider a few nursing schools you would like to attend and then fulfill the requirements so that you have more than one school to apply to, which can increase your chances of getting in! Good luck with your studies! It will be all worth it at the end !
  9. Congradulations!! Thanks for sharing your story with us!! I was thinking about using Kaplan to get more review, how much did you spend? Now that you look back, do you think Kaplan was the best study tool you used?
  10. I have to agree this post was great! I enjoyed reading about your experience and it has really motivated me. I have been thinking about whether to use kaplan or not and after reading this post I am going to definitely order the online class! Thanks so much for sharing!
  11. Hey everyone I was just wondering what is the best way to review for the infection control portion of the NCLEX. I have read from this forum that the NLCEX has alot of infection control questions so I am a little worried about how to study for it. Is there a particular book or online module that is helpful? Thanks so much!
  12. Check out the Saunders review book at your local bookstore the content is great and the questions at the end of each chapter are very helpful in checking to make sure you were paying attention to what you were reading. I'm in an accelerated program too and I know exactly how you feel. I'm taking my exit exam in a few months. I actually considered getting the review cards too but since SShannon1 said it is too easy maybe I will just stick to my Saunders review book. GOOD LUCK!!
  13. Hey everyone, I was just wondering for those who got acceptance letters when do you have to reply by? Thanks!
  14. Congrats!! Now I am even more nervous and anxious. Did you receive a big envelope or a small envelope in the mail? Was it just a letter or were their forms and information packets inside?
