  1. Hi, Would love to hear your current position and what made you decide on an MPH. I am currently deciding between a DNP and an MPH. Cris
  2. I'd love to hear how you feel a DNP would serve you, as I am currently deciding between doing a DNP or MPH. ( i am currently an FNP with my masters). The DNP looks like a hybrid between public health and nursing administration/outcomes improvements. The DNP-MPH dual degree that is offered in Colorado is daunting as I would be part time and would take me 6 years! What about the DNP are you wanting, and what do you want to do with it? Thanks! Cris
  3. Hey B.E, Thanks for starting this thread.....it will be good to "meet" some classmates before school starts. Have you started looking for housing? When will you stop working? I have given my notice for early June, then i will be spending most of the summer in Portland. I just faxed over my health forms and TB tests to the student health center, and it turns out i did my TB tests to early ( i originally though i would be doing the ABSN) and i will have to do 2 more before school starts. I also just started my background check today, have you done that yet? Do they send the report to you too? Anyone else starting out this fall? crisbiss
  4. Hey there SG and WR, What kinds of financial papers did you get? Are you talking about the fasfa, or financial aid award letters and such? I haven't received anything other than my admission packet.... thanks, crisbiss ps. You should check out the new student forum for SM, it's another way to "meet" our new classmates.
  5. Sorry, wrong program! I tried to edit my post, but cant find the "edit" button. crisbiss
  6. Well, they are looking at other things too because i didn't have that high of a GPA and i got in. My GPA is around 3.7, 3.8 .....i don't speak another language, but i do have lots of clinical experience. So, don't give up yet! crisbiss
  7. Hi and Thanks! They gave me until 4/18 to reply to them about the program. Yes, i have definitly made some sacrifices to get into nursing school....and ha ha, the jokes on me..... i just signed up for 3 more years of major sacrifice! No really, i am thrilled to actually be starting NS...i have been trying for the past 3 years and finally this was the year! Good luck to everyone! crisbiss
  8. Hi there, Just wanted to say that i am in a similar boat as you. My big brother was killed this past June and in many ways his death is paving my way for nursing school ( both in his support for me while living, and his financial support posthumously) . It is a weird realization. I also feel it is my "duty" to fulfill this dream of mine as he was so passionate about me and my dream to. So, i just want to offer an understanding ear. As far as your classes go....i did many prerequisites online and many in person. The sciences i did in person and would not have wanted to do them online. I am the type of student that asks alot of questions and need to SEE things to remember them and understand them. So, i just wouldn't have done well in a micro, physio, anatomy online. I did develop friendships in these classes and years later have found i will be starting NS with some of these past class mates. Good luck and know your little sis IS proud! crisbiss
  9. Hey, I got an acceptance letter last week for the Women's Health track.....i dont think i am going to take it though. I live in the east bay and got into a school over here where i can get an NP rather than a generic masters. I do love the state school tuition at Sf state though! Good luck to you! Where else did you apply? crisbiss
  10. I got an acceptance letter for their generic MSN over the weekend.....i have to decide by 4/18 if i want my slot. I still don't know which program to choose! crisbiss
  11. Hi, I took all of these online....through different schools though. Check out cvc.edu ( california virtual college) for a search-able list of california community colleges and the online classes they offer. I took nutrition at los rios, psych at foothill and pharm at yuba college. My pharm was a 3 credit class. Hope this helps! crisbiss
  12. I just got my acceptance letter this weekend!
  13. Hi, I took these classes online at the same time, though it was during a full semester, not a summer semester. I liked taking them together, they go hand in hand in many ways. It was especially great when i was covering the same organ or system in both classes and could use each class as a reference for the other. Both of these classes are alot of reading and for me, digesting and contemplating.....if i didnt work full time i could have done them both in a summer term, but given i work and have 2 kids i needed the full semester to do well. Crisbiss
  14. Congrats! I hope to be one of your classmates! Crisbiss ps. I PM'd you
  15. Hello! For those of you who went through interviews already.......i have a few questions. How many prospective students were at the interview? How many interview-ers were there? I am going to an interview this saturday for the FNP track. Thanks! Crisbiss
