  1. Hi all, I just ran across this older post - I have finished up 1/2 of my program at USF's CNL program. You can find out some more information regarding the CNL role at: http://www.cnlassociation.org/index.php Take care
  2. Hey - I'll answer these questions for everyone to view. Let's see... First semester you start off taking 15 units: Health Assessment (includes Fundamentals) Health Assessment Lab Pathophysiology & Pharmacology Instructional Systems Design Epidemiology There are no formal clinicals the first semester - just assessment lab. Each semester is different regarding the schedule. You will be taking classes with your Cohort only (~30 students). Typically you will be in class (on campus) anywhere from 3-4 days a week. There are quite a few who have been working part-time (no fulltimers), but they have been drastically cutting back their hours as the time needed for studying/papers has been escalating quiet dramatically. For any other questions, please contact me directly. Amy
  3. Congratulations to all who have been accepted! :yeah:I'm currently in CNL Cohort 7 and finishing up my first semester at USF. Feel free to write me if you have any questions - I know I had lots when I started !!!
  4. I am just starting nursing school in a few weeks here in the Bay Area, and our Dean of Nursing said that it's true - there are hiring freezes everywhere right now in the Bay. She suggested to look out of this area and you should be able to find a job. I'm hoping in 2 years that things become better! Good luck!!!
  5. USF does not do interviews for the ME-CNL program; just the application! Hopefully you hear soon. Good luck and let us know!
  6. I'm going the full loan route too. I'll be FT and at $895/unit (first 2 semesters will be 30 units). I had to apply for GradPlus Loans to cover the amount above the Stafford Loans. Yes, I will be debt, but hopefully not for too long afterwards if I watch my income/expense ratio.
  7. Did they remove this requirement??? I noticed it is gone from their web page. It used to be, maybe from here on out it isn't. Hmm..
  8. where are you attending: university of san francisco, cnl program when does your program start: january 26, 2009 when are your orientation(s): january 9th what is your 1st semester schedule: n601.01 pathophysiology/pharm 4 units n602.01 epidemiology 3 units n603.01 assessment 3 units n604.01 instruc. systems design 3 units n605.01 assessment practicum 2 units how are you preparing yourself and/or family: right now just focusing on getting my two little ones ready for mommy to be a full-time nursing student. financial aid has been a real big pain so i'm trying to get that all figured out. plus, this is a brand-new campus for me so i've been having fun checking everything out and organizing myself. will you be working fulltime/parttime/not at all: not at all - a fulltime student. it is also an accelerated program.
  9. Let us know if you got in!!!
  10. Good luck! Did you apply to the BSN or MSN program?
  11. Nothing yet! I submitted my updated FAFSA when I received entry (late November), the website says it will take at least 4 weeks once received. You can email the Financial Aid office; if you do - let me know!
  12. Hi FijiIslands! I have also been accepted for the Spring '09 with Duke. Personally I have almost 2.5 years of volunteer experience at the local hospital where I was helping out approximately 4-5 hours/week (not too terribly much), plus do you have your CNA license? That's required for the MEO (Master's Entry Option) CNL program. I had my BA in Anthropology, my letters of recommendation where from my CNA instructor and my volunteer supervisor. Good luck!
  13. Yep, send in your $500 check to reserve your space. I won't be living on campus since I'm a mom of 2 - where do you all currently live? I'm in Pacifica and I'll have about an hour commute. Also, you can find out our schedule (already!) online. Clinicals on M, classes on W & Th. Of course things might change!
  14. Me! Me! I'm starting too! I just got my acceptance letter the beginning of this week! I'm so psyched to be starting this program - I got rejected from both SFSU's & UCSF's master's program since I wasn't very sure on which specialty I wanted to focus on. Amy
  15. I just passed the CA CNA exam; it is given by ARC (American Red Cross). Contact your nearest facility to see where they will be giving their next test. Good luck!
