Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2020

Hi All,

I didn't see a thread for the Samuel Merritt ABSN summer 2020 cohort and just wanted to start one, as I know most of us are in the process of applying right now. I applied to the Sacramento campus, but am currently waitlisted. I just wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations on how to be more competitive aside from GPA (as I am going to retake some courses to up my GPAs). I love that Samuel Merritt looks at applicants holistically. Please share the wisdom , whether you are applying or you are already in the program. Thank you and have a blessed day !

I doubt ELMSN and ABSN affect each other. I applied to both, got an interview invite for the CM program a month ago (the interview is scheduled for later this month), and then got accepted to the June SM cohort last week. As far as I know, the FNP program hasn't even sent out acceptances/rejections yet either and their interviews were early last week. The ABSN acceptances have already started going out for San Mateo at least (both April and June cohorts).

Congrats on getting in and an interview invite!! Do you mind if I ask when your letter of intent is due for June SM cohort?

Mine is due 3/20. I've already accepted and put in my deposit, got confirmation from the school. I cancelled the CM interview so that someone else can get a chance.

If you're not seeing anything on your portal, make sure you used the same email address as the one you used for NursingCAS. That's how they link the account and application.

Thank you for letting me know about your letter of intent due date. And congrats again!!

I just double checked and I am using the same email from NursingCAS. I can't figure out why it's not showing anything. I'm going to hang tight and not contact them until the Oakland cohort acceptances start coming out.

Mine looks like that too. I don’t know why, but I actually just heard back from Anne and she said they’re still actively reviewing oakland applications! So I think we’re okay so far!

Hello!

For those who applied for the San Nateo April Cohort , who haven't received an acceptance letter, have you guys gotten any other communications or updates from SMU? I feel like it's odd to not have any updates from them, especially with about a month before the start of the cohort. I've applied with Sacramento and they were on top of it, constantly emailing and communicating with applicants. I mean I found out I was waitlisted almost 3 months prior to the start date at Sacramento. If ya hear anything , please share LOL! Thanks !

So I applied for June San Mateo and still haven’t heard anything. I’m fairly certain I didn’t get in at this point, but why haven’t I gotten the denial email yet? Why string us along? Sorry.. just feeling a little frustrated with this whole process.

I applied for Oakland as my first choice, April San Mateo 2nd choice, and June San Mateo as my 3rd choice. I emailed Anne Seed at the Oakland Campus last week. She said hopefully we will hear back by this week. I am a nervous wreck.

I wonder what will be the impact of COVID-19 in the admission process for the Summer and Fall cohort... I hope you all are safe out there ?

I think Covid19 is probably why there is a delay. Hopefully, we hear something back soon.

Hi everyone - I decided to check the SMU Portal to escape the crazy news cycle and it looks like I've been admitted to the Oakland cohort (see image attached). I'm hoping to receive an official email soon. Good luck to you all and I hope everyone is staying safe.
