Hi All,

I didn't see a thread for the Samuel Merritt ABSN summer 2020 cohort and just wanted to start one, as I know most of us are in the process of applying right now. I applied to the Sacramento campus, but am currently waitlisted. I just wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations on how to be more competitive aside from GPA (as I am going to retake some courses to up my GPAs). I love that Samuel Merritt looks at applicants holistically. Please share the wisdom , whether you are applying or you are already in the program. Thank you and have a blessed day !

Well congrats?! Kind of, ha! When you applied, are you sure you didn't list your "ranking"? The application asked for us to rank the cohorts we were interested in - April San Mateo, June San Mateo and May Oakland were the options

My first response: No way! I was only considering Oakland. Then looking back at my application: ?‍♀️ Oh yeah, I guess I did check the box for San Mateo too. Still waiting on Oakland then...

Did anyone get the login info to submit the letter? I got the username but no password.

never mind. I took an online class with them last year and I guess they kept the same password.

Might be just me but your response to all this seems a little snarky. There's HUNDREDS of applicants who would be grateful to be in your position. If you didn't want to be admitted to San Mateo, then you should've unclicked it. The app asks 3 times before submission if you are ready to submit... and from the looks of your thread history, looks like you've been trying to get into nursing school for a while. Be grateful you got in:)

That's fair, I apologize for my response. Things sometimes don't have the same nuance as if we were in person and I certainly don't mean to be snarky. There is still a possibility I will go if it doesn't work out with Oakland, but Oakland is a much more convenient location for me.

Hi All! Sooo , I applied for the San Mateo April Cohort. Is there anyone who hasn't received a response for this cohort ? I'm currently waiting on SMU response, as I've been accepted into another program. I kind of just want to get a feel of whether I should commit to the other school or if I should keep waiting on SMU. I would love to attend SMU (if they would have me aha), but I don't want to lose out on the other program if I didn't get into SMU. Would appreciate any response. And , I am super happy for all those who got in! You all did it and I'll keep praying that I may get an opportunity to be your classmate !

I still have not heard - hoping there will be news tonight. I think very few people have heard for the April cohort....but I’m not sure. As soon as the June cohort found out they were all posting on this forum, and that didn’t really happen for the April cohort it seems?! Not sure!! Just trying to stay positive

I'm praying as well! It's hard not to feel like the last turtle in the race LOL nonetheless I'm praying for all of us ! Thank you for responding to my panic LOL!

Wanted to give a little update and hopefully ease to those anxiously waiting (I know how you feel!). I received my acceptance letter for April San Mateo last week and so did 30+ students. Not sure if waitlists have been sent out already but intent letter to attend is due March 10 so for those waitlisted, I believe you'll probably hear back soon after that day. Good luck guys!! ?

I only applied for one school and one location- Samuel Merritt in Oakland! I have not yet heard anything. Do you only send out email notice or do they send out official mail too? First time applying ..... so no idea at all! I’m a single mom with two young kids and no family in the Bay Area to help me! So I don’t have the luxury to choose other locations LOL wish you all best of luck!!
