Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2020

Hi All,

I didn't see a thread for the Samuel Merritt ABSN summer 2020 cohort and just wanted to start one, as I know most of us are in the process of applying right now. I applied to the Sacramento campus, but am currently waitlisted. I just wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations on how to be more competitive aside from GPA (as I am going to retake some courses to up my GPAs). I love that Samuel Merritt looks at applicants holistically. Please share the wisdom , whether you are applying or you are already in the program. Thank you and have a blessed day !

Also, keep in mind they have an ELMSN class (applications include interviews) to select as well and some people may not get into ELMSN but also applied for ABSN. When both classes start at the same time, I’ve noticed the acceptance letters take a bit longer to go out.
If you get in, awesome. If not, go on the website and find one of the ABSN seminars to go to - they are super helpful with application prep. Also send an email to admissions and ask to speak with an admissions counselor. This organization has been EXCELLENT with emails. When you’re in the program it’s pretty much the primary communication medium. (Not because they don’t want to see you, but because it’s so much more efficient. You’ll be happy about it as a student.)

If you get waitlisted, you can restart your application right away and get those letters of rec participants on board now so you can have it all done for April 1 deadline. It’s possible, I promise, I did it last year. Y’all got this.

I applied to the Oakland campus and have been anxiously awaiting news. It’s exciting to hear that acceptance emails have started to go out. Congrats to everyone who got in!

I too am waiting to hear back from Oakland.

I was waitlisted for Sac (Jan 2020 cohort) - originally spot 20 and then it moved and ended up spot 5 on waitlist.

I just started my application for fall Sac 2020, in order to give recommenders time.

Hoping we hear back soon!

has anyone else heard back? I know a few people were accepted Friday night but it doesn't seem like they've sent out many acceptances.. ??

I might just be clinging on to a sliver of hope but figured I'd ask you guys! I am particularly interested in the San Mateo April start ?

Hi!! I am just like you ! Hoping for the April start date, but I havent heard back either. I'm thinking it should be soon!LOL let's keep praying !!

April San Mateo was my second choice, I'm waiting to hear for June San Mateo. I’m seriously checking my email every 10 minutes. It’s driving me insane! I feel for those who have to up and move their life for the April start date and haven’t heard back. Luckily I’m in the Bay Area but OMG they are giving no time to those who have to move or have other obligations. I just had a baby and on maternity leave so luckily I’m just waiting it out.

Same ! I check my email first thing every morning LOL! I applied for the April cohort and I'm from Sacramento so I am preplanning everything, such as housing. I just need a yes from them haah! Best of luck !!

I just checked my portal and it now says accepted. I applied for June San Mateo.

I also just checked and it seems like we all are accepted into the san mateo cohort!! I'm gonna start a FB page for us!
