Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2020

I didn't see a thread for the Samuel Merritt ABSN summer 2020 cohort and just wanted to start one, as I know most of us are in the process of applying right now. I applied to the Sacramento campus, but am currently waitlisted. I just wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations on how to be more competitive aside from GPA (as I am going to retake some courses to up my GPAs). I love that Samuel Merritt looks at applicants holistically. Please share the wisdom , whether you are applying or you are already in the program. Thank you and have a blessed day !

As far as the orientation, this is what was posted in our SMU Pulse group

"We wanted to let you know that we are changing the in-person orientation that was scheduled for 3/20/2020 to an online orientation due to health and safety reasons. This means that you will not need to come to the campus that day. We will send a voiceover PPT with the necessary information for you to begin the program. We are also in process of scheduling a financial aid seminar via WebEx on 3/20/2020 (more information on this to follow).

As of now, we still plan to meet in-person on Friday, April 17th for the Kick-Off to Student Success Day #1. However, we will update you if anything changes regarding this.

In the meantime, please check your SMU email regularly as this will be the primary means of communication.

We are looking forward to working with you on your journey to becoming an RN!"

So it seems like there won't be a certain time and date we need to be logged on. Just check for the PPT

I reached out to Anne. She said that I was considered for Oakland only and waitlisted. I explained I applied to san mateo as well. She said she will get back to me regarding that.

Just checked again and saw that I got in! - Oakland Summer. I literally just screamed.

Hey everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster. I kept watching as everyone cycled through saying they got in or gave their updates for each cohort. I was worried about us May Cohort folks, especially with everything going on with COVID-19, but seeing everyone posting got me anxious to check my portal just now. And to my amazement, I WAS ADMITTED! The absolute best news I could have gotten today. Now all I need is the official email to solidify it. I can't wait to meet all of you, learn with/from you, and grow with everyone! Wishing everyone all the best today and the days to come! ?

I got in also! May 2020 Oakland, here I come!

I received a call from Anne this afternoon, and then checked the portal and it was updated too.

I still can't believe this! Best news ever, and I have been working so hard for the part 4 years to get into this program. ?

I just checked the portal and I am admitted to Samuel Merritt Oakland too!! will wait for official email/phone call from Samuel Merritt ? Congrate to all of you who got in!! and keep my fingers crossed for those who are still waiting to hear back!

P.s. I just received an voice mail from Anne from Samuel Merritt to confirm my admission and she said an email will be sent out in the morning tomorrow!

1. Anyone here see that they got admitted on the portal, but didn't get a call from Anne? Just wanted to see what others were experiencing out there. Wondering if just the logistics of calling so many admitted might have kept her from calling all.

CONGRATS to everyone that has been accepted!!

According to the portal my application for Oakland May 2020 is still being reviewed. Hopefully more news to come tomorrow...
