Hi Everyone! I know this is a bit early but I will be applying to SMU for the ABSN program of Summer 2014 (Oakland Campus). I am currently finishing my Bachelor's degree in health science at CSUEB right now and I will be done in the fall. I just wanted to start a discussion on this topic and get to know some people who are applying to the program for summer 2014. Let's get to know each other, share our stats, etc.
Here are my estimated stats that they look at:
Last 60 units GPA: 3.5
Pre req GPA: 3.4
Teas: 83 but I am re taking it in a couple of weeks
Experience: I am a CNA and Med tech currently. I volunteer at John Muir hospital and at American Red Cross.
I hope to hear from some prospective applicants soon!
I'm new to this website and will be applying to SM ABSN in the Fall of 2014. I see the list of approved Pharm and Patho classes on the SM website and although I'd prefer to take the classes with SM, it is just too expensive. Did any of you take it somewhere else online and would recommend it?

I took the course online through Santa Barbara City College. I was relatively pleased with the course. You need to be a self motivator though. There are some hoops to jump through too before you can register for the course, i.e a pre-req. If you've got A&P done you should be good. Get started on that early so you are ready to register the day it opens for you. It's also very reasonably priced if you have CA residency. I took both patho and pharm from that school.
For summer start we aren't finding out anything until Feb/March? I could well be 2-3 months into another program by then. Wish it didn't take so long.

All summer ABSN programs had a deadline of September 1st. The March 1st deadline is for Fall.
Don't stress too much off a cover letter, resume, or numbers. A nurse that I know attended the ABSN program 2 years ago did not have the numbers close to what people are posting here and still got accepted. GPA was like 3.1 with a TEAS in low 80's.
Hi Everyone! I know its not anything to be excited about but I got the "Your file is in progress and moving along" email as well! Happy to at least know that things are moving, slowly but surely. 5 more months....
I got an email my file was moving along just because my counselor needed one more transcript. After she got it, she was able to complete my file and sent me an email to advise me my file was moving along nicely. I don't think we will know anything till like Feb.
