Samuel Merritt ABSN Summer 2012

Published

Hi everyone! :nurse:

So, the applications are due today (September 1st) for summer admission to ABSN program at Samuel Merritt. How does everyone feel about their application??  What campus did you apply to?

Sick of waiting!!!! GAHHH Who is with me??

I really hope we hear from them this week....!

By the way, in response to where ppl are coming from for the San Mateo June Cohort - I live in North San Jose and plan to commute. Trying to avoid relocation if possible...

Hi Everyone!

I contacted DOA and she said that we should expect to hear back the week of March 26. I guess that means more waiting! GAHHHH

Ok seriously?!?!!?!?!?!??!?!?!!?! :banghead:

haha, i think i was right...they really are trying to roster sf and oakland first...

ahhhh!! I am so sorry to the San Mateo peeps!! That sucks to keep having to wait!!! Remember us Oakland wait-listers are still waiting with no explanation as to why people behind us on the wait-list were accepted before us. Hang in there! You aren't alone in this long, DRAWN OUT wait! I am a total planner, so this wait is driving me NUTS! Fingers crossed for us all!

NO-NO-NO.... it's unbelievable! The week of 26th? Are they nuts over there? Don't we have lives here, on the other side of this admission process? I just called EB and left a pretty angry message. I'm fed up with this. Now, I really am starting to judge Samuel Merritt by their lack of organization. If their admission process is so screwed up, then what about the program itself? What are we going to pay so much money for? We are getting loans here, straining our families. What for? Are they the only ones in this world? Man... I can't find words to describe my "excitement".

If ----- doesn't call me with an explanation tomorrow, I'm going to call her again and again until her voicemail is full.

That's horrible!!!!!!!!!!!! It's definitely very last minute because there is SO much to do once you are accepted. Renewing CPR, getting physical exam, securing funds for the program, planning housing, etc.

I hope you guys hear back from the counselor soon!!

Exactly. There's no incentive for them to do San Mateo right now. It doesn't start til June and that's 2+ month away.

i just found this on a thread regarding deleting and editing posts, "

regular members can edit posts for five minutes. paid memberships can edit posts after five minutes"

Also, I'm sure that SMU faculty is already aware of this website and discussion board. I think all nursing schools are aware of this site. I have a friend who attended a local JC information session and they actually directed potential students to this site to find more information.

We have not said anything demeaning or rude against SMU. We all still would LOVE to get in. Nursing is an impacted major and decisions are hard to make and therefore take time. One of the nice things about SMU is that they look at each applicant as an individual, viewed as an entire package: grades, personal statement, letters of recommendation, volunteer experience, etc. With that comes a longer wait time for decisions. If we were applying to state colleges, this would be a point system and we'd be treated as a number, if this was a JC, we would all be thrown into a lottery, also viewed as a number.

As Tu Pac would say... Keep your head up.

Hey bwilliams398, which cohort have you applied to?
